He was my only cousin growing up. He was the boy who had everything. I admired and loathed him at the same time. But he had my heart from the moment we met . I watched him grow into a teen and then a man. Our superficial exteriors may alter, but we never move far from our childhood selves. He was my life long friend. Despite distance and circumstance, I held this man in the highest esteem. To me he was sensitive and strong, beautiful and kind. His charisma was delightful and honest. A quote from Maya Angelou may lend insight to what i cannot.
“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Shayne made me feel love and family. I will miss him forever.

I will never be able to put in words exactly how much he affected my life how much I wish we could continue our friendship how much I miss him how much I think about our childhood together. All I can say is thank you. You were my brother. Even though we lost contact I still had you in my heart. It hurts so much to learn that my search for you ended right here instead of seeing you get older and meeting your wife and kids but at least I know where you are. Your memory remains in my heart.
