For God's Sake (or maybe Darwin's) who cares about wars, food prices, and gas prices when hugely important things like gay marriage happen. Once again we model to the world what civilization is all about. And if you don't like it, we'll find four people that will force it on you.

"at least they aren't out raping and murdering people. let them be."

Serial killer Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez married his penpal Doreen Lioy, despite his having been convicted of murdering 13 people in one of the nation's most vile, horrific killing sprees.

The man is legally allowed to get married.

Murderers are not denied their fundamental right to marry, despite the atrocious crimes they've committed.

Gay people, however, barring Massachusetts and now California, are not allowed to marry.

There is some seriously backwards philosophy at play here when it comes to the arbitrary granting of rights.

You don't hear people up in arms about serial killers, rapists, etc. being allowed to marry, but when it comes to gay people, people are outraged.

It's pathetic.

This observation is testament to the degree to which gay people are persecuted, misunderstood, and hated in this country.

There is not enough love in this world, and those of you moaning and crying foul because gay people are finally getting the dignity and the respect they deserve as human beings wishing to build for themselves a happy, rich, love-filled life, need to get your priorities straight.

It actually feels good.

The more I hate, the less uncertain and angry I am about myself.

History has shown that the majority opinion is not always the fairest or right one as seen in the Women's Suffrage Movement and the Civil Rights Movement. It often takes the legal system to nudge along the changes that bring a society to equality and peace. This is the right time. I am proud to be a Californian.

Marriage was create for and in Honour of heterosexual relationships!
This is because thanks to heterosexuals we even exist and the union of marriage honours that!
For hundreds of years since it was created it hasn't been about gays, or a farmer and his pig or someone and their goat, it has been about honouring heterosexual relationships because the fact remains that thanks to heterosexuals we even exist!
If it were up to gays to sustain the population we would have died off thousands of years ago and some idiot is trying to compare the very union that is responsible for our very existance which is again thanks to heterosexuals we even exist and this is what marriage was create for and in honour of so now I am wondering how any so called justice of the peace could possibly overturn such a ruling without justifying the very premise of what marriage was created for and in honour of!
Fact here is, ignorance prevailed in a courtroom, but marriage will be restored before too long and I will make sure of it personally.
What really anghers me about all this nonsense is that homosexuals show absolutely nop consideration for heterosexuals when it comes to this issue all they obviously care about is getting their own selfish way and they do this by desperately scrambling to make what is into what they would rather it be by trying to manipulate lies as the reality without any consideration for anyone else but their own selfish agenda!
As a heterosexual I am offended that any so called justice of the peace would deliberately throw marriage in the garbage in sich a disgracefull manner!!!

That ruling won't last very long, and no gays on this planet will ever disgrace marriage with such nonsense ever again! You watch, time will reveal this coming to pass. I am here to make sure of it!
What is sad is that I didn't notice such rhetoric going on before last night or I would have been here much earlier!
To equate gay/lesbian relationships to bestiality shows that you are in fact MENTALLY ILL. The other anti gay/lesbian posts make me lean even further to teh belief that RELIGION is MENTAL ILLNESS too.

So sad to see so many people threatened by something that is none of their business.

David- look at a population clock.

Humans are not terribly close to dying out.
I think your precious heteros are (over) breeding just fine thank you.

When two people can find love, why are you not happy for them?
No, you would rather hate and spew lies.

And yet you even claim to know God.

Sick.

Remember, sanctity (which basically means Holy or Sacred) is defined by each religion in its own way. Saying that gay marriage “ruins the sanctity of marriage” is once again declaring that every religion has to conform to conservative Christian values. In many cultures a marriage between two people in love, despite their gender, is very sacred. Besides, marriage is a civil process. It can also be a religious process, but doesn’t have to be. If a certain church doesn't want to allow gay marriage that is their choice. But a church cannot dictate the civil process. That is up to the balance of power... legislator, judiciary and executive. That is how this process is working itself out.

I haven't seen a whole lot of sanctity in marriages. I have seen, instead, a whole lot of child abuse, battered women, infidelity, alcoholism, and drifting apart. I send my very good wishes to the gay community. Perhap by wanting this so much, it will be more caring of love.

Yeah, and and the hetero's have been doing a bang up job with marriage:
Divorce rate is up, spousal abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse, cheating and the constant subjugation of women and children.

Wow, the family values of America are just super!!!

Then by all means, you and your fellow beasties should form a group and hire a lawyer. When you show up to the courthouse with your bride to be, be sure and bring the press along, they love that stuff. It will be all over Youtube in an hour.

(But why marry the cow when you get the milk for free?)

This is a major step forward for all people in this state. I was watching Boston Legal the other night and they had a case where a woman was suing the Arch Diocese (The Holy Catholic Church) for not allowing women to be ordained as priests in the Catholic church. The argument in that it is sexist. I would really like that to happen in real life, too. It's time to shed stereo typical morays and understand that we are all still the same people with the same needs, goals, and dreams.
