Yeah this is a good move for the community of Luna County. Its going to break the buddy systems. I really think the Commissioners should also look into other administrator position and find out if they are qualified for that position, such as the county jail & county road department. Mr. Vinson has brought in lots of his buddies. And with that they brought in thier family (sons, daughters, cousins, and in laws) into a high paid position, proventing others to move up. Well finally we got people to step up to the administrator who are willing to work for county and not just sit at home and collect checks. I also believe they should run back ground checks on everyone and do U.A. screens without them knowing. Hopefully move a high paid Captain of Detention Center from the Courthouse back into the Jail. Where he is needed for his training on new officers and not falling asleep at the Courthouse. We can save the county lots of money by doing this and putting a regular Detention Officer there at a lower cost to the county.

18 months SEVERANCE PAY?
You are kidding, aren't you?
$118,000.00 per year pay?
What the heck!
No-wonder this county is broke.
What were you people thinking?
Now Diaz who did nothing while on
the school board for 12 years is
in charge.
Well all I can say is that you
people who wanted change got what
you deserve.
So all you Mex's wanted a Mex in
office so he would be one of your
own and take care of you.
Well you got fooled.
He doesn't care about you.
All he cares about is the money.
God bless all you socialist.

While I am happy that Vinson is leaving, we shouldn't get our hopes up that things will change. The good old boy network is in full force in every department of the county. The corruption and buddy system will not go away. The only thing we can hope for is his replacement to be just a little less corrupt than him. But I'm not holding my breath.

It's sad that none of these comments mention all that Mr. Vinson has done for the community while he has been the county manager. Everyone is an expert on how things should be run, and if that is so then run for an office and make those changes you seem to know so much about. In any community there is a level of the "good ole boy" net-working game that goes on. It's unfortunate but part of life. And if you think it's only in small communities look at the mess in Illinois and at our own capital. To address the comments made about a "high paid Captain", he is there to provide security for the Judges, Manager and Commissioners and they rely on that protection every day. He has a high level of training, and this is why he holds that postion.

SEVERANCE PAY???? My understanding is that Luna County is cutting back on jobs due to low budgets. Under staffing the detention center and/or sheriff department. And they still wanna officer SEVERANCE PAY to Vinson. He gets his bonus when ever he needs them. But when you work for a county or city they don't call them bonus. They are well hidden in other budget area's where they are hard to find. Makes you wonder whats going on.

4 years ago if he would have scramed, we would have only been "endowed" to pay him 4 years SEVERANCE PAY.

Humm... wonder how many jobs will be lost in the next year in Luna County? Anyone know that one?

How about calling Obama and letting him know that the County Manager is taking his "SEVERANCE PAY"?

Times are tough, they are getting tougher, time for the people like this one to scat and run away. Take the money and run or do like we used to do "TAR AND FEATHER THEM"

What in the world has he done to warrant $177.000 a year and the severance pay and retirement? He has been nothing but an embarrassment to the county. Yeah, so what with the bowling alley and movie house. Anyone could have done that.

How come all of us that are tax payers don't have a say in what he gets? He doesn't know what real work his. Getting his hands dirty, sweat on his brow, out in the elements. The real city workers of Deming are out everyday in the hot and cold to keep this town up, with low pay, and then there is Scott, pushing pencils, running around in an air conditioned building, soft seating and raking in the dough. How does that work? Share Vinson with the ones who really do DO all the work. If it wasn't for all of us you wouldn't have gotten what you have. You did nothing except rob us with your salary.

Negotiating severance pay is a smart thing to have done.I would not expect less from him. Big job good pay. 16 years is a long run and the truth be told not many who apply for the position will have that type of experience. Scott did a lot of good for Luna County. Was he perfect? NO. Who is? Like it or not Scott is a strong leader and is leaving a big set of shoes to fill. Scott enjoy your family and retirement and take time to just chill you have earned it.

Your response is very true, nepotism at its finest. I totally agree with the UA's but once again people are tipped off prior to the tests. Don't hold your breathe about the Commisioners making changes- you take out one dictator another moves in.

No s*** I agree with Former county employee and justthink. Why the HELL should he get all this severance pay?? All these other pepole that are lossing their jobs due to the economy are LUCKY if they get 3 OR 4 months of severance pay. And they want to give someone that thinks just because he is the County Manager that everyone should jump through hoops for him 18 months plus lets not forget still pay into his retirement. That to me is a BUNCH OF BULL****!!! Not to mention the county could be saving alot of money if they would just stop coming up with all these BULL**** JOBS for these so called important jobs. These jobs are just created to keep certin people employed so that they have a say on how the county run. I think all of them need to get booted....
