Why would they steal the radar detector? What were they thinking. I bet they all get off except the hispanic one!

Wonderful and honorable public servants.

Real honorable people who work in the same town as the brand new nuclear fuel enrichment plant.

Glad they are OFF THE STREET

Human nature is a strange thing sometimes. When some people see someone being attacked and down they run to get a kick in while they are down. It would be so nice if it were the other way and they would see that just like a pancake there are two sides and two stories. Instead of jumping on the band wagon, because it is easier than being patient, and weighing the evidence first, if everyone could not act out in a moblike manner, maybe this situation and others could get resolved. I know Ron and some of the others and because I do I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and to wait patiently for the facts to come out. I do wonder why only one side is speaking and not all sides. This is ruining so many lives and how could someone get any joy out of that.

I dont know about all this stuff I have read, if anything has any merit at all. But I will tell you the Ron Grogan I do know. When his father died and his mother needed someone to help her, he did not bat an eye. He had a good life elsewhere but he was needed and he jumped up to the plate instantly. Anytime he hears of someone in need he is the first one to volunteer and come to the rescue. When his in laws needed help he brought them to Eunice and tended to them. He has always had an open door policy to anyone in need. He has taken his vacation to go to one of his brothers and help him when he was in need. If all you hear is bad about someone then you cant know how they really are. I am not saying Ron is perfect but remember what happened to the last perfect person on this earth, he was hung on the cross. I am just saying that Ron Grogan has done enough good on this planet that he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Just consider the source of all the venom being spewed and what their payoff is in this situation.

Ron is my younger brother. Even though he is not perfect he is a good man. As far as the radar detector goes I tried to give him mine a couple of years ago, he didn't want it. He did not steal a radar detector! Someone in Eunice is after his job and will go to any extreme to get it.

Jig A Boo, why would he steal the radar detector? he has one of his own. could be there is more to this story than what is being reported. did you know that ron spent 20 years in the army? he worked hard to get certified as paramedic. when most of eunice was sleeping quietly in their comfortable beds, ron would respond to fire calls and ambulance calls without hesitation. it is easy to cast stones at a man you really don't know but in my book he qualifies as a hero. i think he deserves that much respect.

The assistant fire chief told Ron that he wanted him gone, he wants his job. The assistant was at a party last weekend where alcohol was served to a minor and was verbaly repremanded for it by Ron.

It is the policy of the fire department to remove valuables from vehicles for safe keeping.

Ron tried to turn it in and was told to "keep it on his side" of the building. It was placed in a city vehicle over the weekend in plain view, where it was found. If you steal something are you going to leave it where someone can find it?

The original complaint was made by someone who's mother was fired from the fire department. He also has a family member on the board that suspended him. He still has family that works for the fire department.

Ron has worked hard to improve the fire and EMS department, and to get them accredited. Who knows what is going to happen now. Its a shame that a few people in the department "that want things the way it was" ( drinking at the department and showing up late for work or just not showing up) have caused so much trouble.

I really hope those involved are proud of the fact that they have made a regional scandal of this and have ruined not just one family but five.

And you are ...? I didn't see you sign your name, Chicken Lollypop. It's easy to sling accusations when you won't sign your name.

I don't know anything about the firefighters arrested for the burglary of that radar detector expect one and that is Fernando Espino and I can tell you that he is innocent and would never steal anything or knowingly commit wrong doing. But I can tell you that the City of Eunice has had its fair share of political bulls..t and it will never stop. The rules are not the same for anyone who works or is involved with the City of Eunice NM. City Hall is a pathetic excuse for government and I feel sorry for the people who really want to do be on the city council and make the town a better place to live, they have no chance because there will always be some corrupt bulls..t! I have relatives whose lives were turned upside down working there and being involved with the City of Eunice and I'm just glad I do not live there anymore. If someone is out to get Ron Grogan's job they need to leave Fernando Espino out of it!

Ron has been cleared of all sexual charges and has got his paramedic license back. And let me tell you it was investigated from top to bottom and up and down because they really wanted a conviction. But you can bet that the person that started all this stuff will not be prosecuted. He should be held liable. Ron and his family have been treated terribly. It seems that the fine upstanding people of Eunice would have hanged Ron without a trial. Do I hear any apologies coming out? Ron will be found innocent of this mess too and I am sure he will leave Eunice to their lying petty ways. I would and would never look back. This is same old story that comes out of Eunice so very often. Is there no shame? Anyone can see that the theft charges are trumped up charges. And the poor guys that have had their lives turned upside down also, just so something might stick to Ron. At this time of year when Christianity is spread all over the world, these guys have been mashed and thrashed. How could anyone get any joy out of trashing so many lives with their lies..

They're probably all charged as accessory after the fact ~ for walking the thin blue (or red for firefighter's) line. Get rid of them all and start over...

This is absolutely correct... One person stole the radar detector.(A well qualified investigator with noting to gain, an assistant district attorney with nothing to gain, and a magistrate judge with noting to gain, all heard the facts of the case and "found probable cause" that Grogan stole the radar detector and 4 others were doped into going along with a lie to protect him.

I'm sure this a conspiracy to hurt a good man. I mean, it's so easy to include the state police, the courts, and the fire department in a lie just to get a job... Get real and look at the facts, read the public information that is available and tell me that he's innocent...

Jig A Boo, that cracked me up lol

These Topix boards are usually so negative and full of people that will mouth of behind a computer but would never say these things in your face. I also don't see how you can read one newspaper article and think you have the whole story? The truth is, I don't know Ron at all. I know that he is a relative of mine and I have seen talk about these charges but never knew what was going on, so I came to search and find it myself. My guess is this is a trumped up charge because the City didn't like the outcome of the other things that went on. I am smart enough to figure out that this news article does not have enough of the story for ANYONE to figure it out. The moblike, judgmental mentality in this world is outrageous. Just remember when you are pointing a finger, 3 more are pointing back at you.
