What a huge joke, no recess b/c principal and teachers can't get a handle on a few students. Where do they find these teachers Looks to me they need to start from scratch and get some REAL teachers!!!!!

Looks like you need to do your research, Central is not the only school that has taken away recess. There are quite a few schools in St. Landry Parish and Acadia Parish that no longer have recess. This is due to teaching minutes that are required by the state of Louisiana. I have taught in both parishes.

Maybe thats what you need to do some "research". My sister is a teacher at Central, she was told me before several times that "RECESS WAS CUT OUT DUE TO SOME CHILDREN BEING OUT OF CONTROL" If the teaching minutes was a issue dont you think that it would be "required by the state" that ALL school would be without recess!!!!

Every school is different. I teach in Evangeline. My school goes the most minutes in a day out of the entire parish. We start earlier and let out later. Other schools in the parish cut recess bc of the lack of minutes, however my school didnt bc we already had them.

Just curious as to how recesses can be cut due to out of control students when the school year hasn't started yet. I could understand if this went into effect last year and those same students are returning.

Is that your "humble" opinion?

Yet another example of societal breakdown and reason to avoid the feral beasts. I wonder if St Eds ever had to cancel recess for their "middle school" students? Mmmmmm?

From experience! What ever school your child attends.... Private or Public you have to stay involved... And parents believe it or not but we live in a farely descent town, it's not like New Orleans or some big town.

They let those kids get away with everything. My kids were bullied, boys touching them(yea, like that), one was blocked n the bathroom by kids & bullied. I had to go to school all the time and 90% of the time, nothing was done. My kids were scared to go to school when they went there.

Not enough structure over there! Mine went and gad almost same problems minus touching cuz I would have taken it to nit only school board but authority as well. I pulled mine out if there and so did quite a few people I know removed there kids. Principal needs improvement or replacement!!

I brought it to everyone I could think of. The other kids would say they didn't do it & the schools response was, "if we didn't see it happen, we can't do anything." Needless to say, they're not there anymore.

I am so sorry your children had to be exposed to this, especially your poor little girl at her young age. That wasn't just harassment it's sexual abuse. Doesn't surprise me nothing was done. These teachers know exactly who the bullies are. They're easily spotted. Sadly it's going to take something extreme to happen before they take this seriously. Bullying is becoming rampant in schools and many times the children won't report it for fear of retaliation. It wasnít much of a problem when my kids were in elementary school but they didnít attend Highland. At Central there was a huge bullying problem.
