I was Don's girlfriend for 2-1/2 years, the last 3 months he lived with me and another roommate. There is much I can say here but I heard tell that his death was being ruled as a suicide. It is imperative people know Don did NOT kill himself. He had too high a regard for life... things we had talked about. He was in a lot of physical pain, some of it brought on by a near death experience when he was in a truck at work with a new driver who was driving last week on that Wednesday who hit a K-rail. It was one of the very few times Don lost it and yelled at the driver because he thought the truck was going to flip over and he could have died. He was completely shaken up when he got home... something I'd never seen in him before. I insisted he take Thursday and Friday off and he did, and he thanked me for. I spent the last four days of his life with him, on Sunday discussing the Bible wherein he told he did believe in God. When we said our good byes on Monday morning there was NO indication he was planning to kill himself. He either blacked out, had a heart attack, I don't know... but I DO know it was an accident. He had a superb driving record so something happened to him to make him hit that train. The only way I'd believe differently is if God came down from Heaven and told me differently. It disturbs me greatly to think anyone believes he killed himself... he simply wouldn't have done it.

I knew Don for at least 20 years at the plant. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I know that intersection and I've had to double take several times coming down that hill when there has been a train passing. Being it was before/at sunrise, it would have been a hard thing to judge.

I'm glad to hear Don had our Lord in his heart and that he is not suffering from any of his earthly pain any longer. He will be missed.
