Who do I believe?

I am new to the area and about to vote for the first time. I read on here about the "Good ol boys" and underhanded deals etc. and other posts slandering other candidates. How do I know who is allied with whom and who is truly the best candidates to move this community forward ? Will someone give folks like me a brief summary of the political landscape in this community ?

you should be aware that Miller, Stout, Braselton, Jacobs, and Bobby Gay, who's out of running for anything right now, are all together. Look at the records of what went on when Jacobs, Stout, and Braselton were on the council together....the attempted destruction of the Police Dept, the extremely overpriced paving on Five Forks Rd, the $150,000+ worth of equipment that was purchased for which the city has no use, the work on the General Store which was originally bid at $30,000 and ended up costing the city over $150,000, etc. Their records speak for themselves, but you're new, so you wouldn't know. Also, go to the clerk of courts office computer room at the county courthouse and type in Mike Miller (the mayoral candidate from this group). You'll be shocked to learn he's been in court eleven times in the past several years on everything from family violence to being a dead-beat dad. This group does not have the character, the morals, nor the intelligence to even run their own lives, much less our city. Let's hope our citizens have wised up. We didn't know them before they got in office. We do now.

Oh yea, and you can go to www.ecfeg.org and read about Miller and his record in his roles with the city. None of it's pretty. He has the morals of an alley cat and an intelligence level that allows him to be only marginal functional.

See the big red "X" on the two preceding posts? That's classic Miller. He has no comeback so he does immature childish things such as that. As if it changes his criminal records or the facts! And the thing that's bugging me is the fact that the facts state only that, the facts; they don't go into all the sordid details implied behind them. Those are more disgusting that the facts any day. But, I think the facts say enough to let you know that the citizens of Euharlee can do better than to elect that man or his colleagues Braselton and Jacobs.

Yes we don't know who is putting x on the post but it must be Miller. Why anyone listens to the that garbage I never know. Gee gimme a break. Why don't you call Mike and ask him about this stuff. Please don't be like to the ECFEG. They have no guts to actually talk to people.

Gosh, I don't know about that. Lots of them were at the Meet the Candidates to talk to those running, but none of the ones mentioned here showed up. And they've been offered free space on the ecfeg website to answer questions and discuss their platforms, which none have done. And they tried to hold a public forum, but were not allowed to do so on public property, so that kind of precluded anything in the city. Exactly who have they refused to talk to? Or are you all mouth? I'm sure they'd love to talk to people, to explain the corruption and incompetence that went on when we had Jacobs, Braselton and Stout all on the council at the same time, to question why they would back a candidate such as Miller who has demonstrated such an abject lack of character and morals that it's beyond shocking, and things like that. If you have something to say, say it. Don't just make snide little comments and imply that the ecfeg people are hiding from anyone. That is absolutely not the case and if you live here, you know that. These guys have stepped forward to better the city on their own time and their own dime, and they should be given a pat on the back for doing so. I, for one, would like to go to a council meeting and not wonder what outrageous thing will be said, if Braselton and Stout will actually participate, if they'll storm out of the meeting, etc. It'd be so nice to see quality people in their places up there. We sure haven't seen that with them. Instead, we see winks, text messaging, etc., between them and Miller and Jacobs. It's almost like a little group of children with a secret they don't want to share. Is that your idea of good government? If it is, you've been in great shape the past two years; if not, then why do you criticize those who are trying to change things? These are fair questions. It would be nice to see a responsible, logical answer from you.

What about the supposed mismanagment of funds during the construction of Frankie Harris Park? Who is and was responsible for that?

Interesting question. I don't know all the facts as well as some, but from what I understand the bid was $100,000 and the work was to be done by John Montgomery. Joe Harris was used for the plumbing and electrical. Of the $100,000 Joe Harris received around $40,000 with the balance going to Montgomery. Montgomery had been harrassed from day one by Braselton and Jacobs. They repeatedly called the county building inspector to come out and condemn the work. The building inspector made trips to the site at their request, but could find nothing not in compliance with code, so he could not condemn it. Then, when Montgomery needed an additional $3,000 to finish the project (keep in mind that Joe Harris had received about 40% of the total spent so far) he was refused and fired. Contrast that with Jacob's father who bid $30,000 to redo the store and then kept coming back for more and more until the final bill reached somewhere in the vicinity of $150,000. Does this seem like equal treatment? Montgomery got screwed, not the city. John could not have made more than $5000 or $6000 net for all his time and work. Oh, did I mention that Joe Harris was Frankie's son? Do you think that Jacobs father was inspected weekly or so by the councimen as Montgomery was? For specifics, I suggest you talk to some of those involved....Jacobs, Braselton, Montgomery, or Harris. I'm sure their stories will be slanted to enforce their biases, but that in a nutshell is more or less what happened.

Your org is not the holier than thou group that you think it is. Great purpose but the people running it have cancered it with personal attacks. Oh we must be doing a good job because we have 20k websites hits. Yes so does the youtube video of the guy taking on to the nuts. website hits doesn't mean people agree with you.
