Let me get this straight, Lane county commissioners already making $74,000 per year at the public trough are now whining about wanting regular pay raises to keep pace with the consumer index? How about if we pay them what the average consumer is getting paid? Isn't it a little crass to ask for pay raises during these times when they're already making almost twice the median income for the area? Good grief, people. You've got to be kidding me. Talk about being out of touch with reality.

Their stated reason is that they don't want to be embarrassed by having to vote themselves a pay raise each time. Well note to the commissioners:, since I and the rest of the private sector are paying for your largesse, I want you to feel embarrassed. And if not that, then at least a little sheepish about asking for more money when many people don't make a third of what you're already making.
