If you agree and want a better environment for your kids when they get grown. Please speak up and be counted.
Where there is cock fighting there is gambling and drugs.
Drugs bought and sold.
Our state and local officials seem to have a blind eye to this cruel bloodsport.

Going to a cock fight is a matter of personal preference... If you don't want to attend, don't! Drugs are bought and sold everywhere. And as far as gambling goes... Guess you better think about the Kentucky Derby... What shall I do?... Wear a dress and a pretty hat to the cockfights! There is no difference in the two... Horses run and roosters fight!

After the race the Horse is still living, unless there is a freak accident.

After the fight the Rooster dies. Either by blade or by man if it loses. It does not have a second chance.

That is the differance.

Horses are a free creature as well! However, they are put in fenced in areas and forced to run... I see no difference! I don't recall seeing a horse rider coming already attached to foals when they drop... They are physically forced to engage in activities that they are not "born to do!" If they don't run fast enough they are mostly sent to "glue" factories! Hmmm....Death by human hands! Who wants to ruin a good name with sorry horses who can't make it out of the starting gates! No difference in cockfighting!

Horses are still slaughtered in the United States! They are just no longer allowed to be exported for human consumption...see bill (H.R. 503) passed by the House of Representatives in 2006.

Another article for you!
Thousands of Horses Slaughtered Annually
According to the International Fund for Horses, about 65,000 horses—racehorses, workhorses, wild horses and family steeds—are slaughtered each year in the U.S. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) pegs the number closer to 100,000. Meanwhile, Agriculture Canada reports that about 62,000 horses are slaughtered annually in Canada, 40 percent of which are sent across the border from the U.S. Most of the meat processed is sold in Europe and Asia, while a small amount is used to feed zoo animals domestically.

Horseracing... A legal sport, promotes gambling, and alcohol consumption! If the horses don't make the grade they are slaughtered! Few may get adopted out if the owner chooses to do so! You see this as humane... No difference in cockfighting! A little hypocritical don't you think?

All animals and fowl should be protected, unless it is a threat to man kind or his live stock.
With the exception of food consumption.
The way i see it is, if your not going to eat it and it is not harming you don't kill it period.
To kill a deer just for it's rack and not it's meat is low down. I don't care who you are.

The way i see it is simple, this artical was started with the intentions of saving some poor kid the "horrors" or joy from where im sitting of seeing 2 cocks fighting.
how many times have you past a couple people on the side of the road fighting chickens? how many times has someone said to you "you know where they have the cockfights" it isnt as obvious as one would think. cock fighters dont HIDE from anyone to do what they do, but we dont put up flyers and invite everytone to come to walmart parking lot for a fight either. chances are unless you talk to people and ask alot of questions and are trusted pretty well you'll never see a cock fight. so dont use that as leverge. i understand you may think it is "wrong" to fight them, but atleast be honest, untill it was aired on the news it never entered your head.

You are exacly right! If people choose not to attend or allow their children to attend is their personal choice. Everybody shouldn't be penalized for the opinions of a select few!

Anyone can enter a pit and watch the cocks fight. All that is needed is the admission fee. The admission fees and snacks is the main source of profit for these pits.
If the Government is going to continue to let you fight, you should at least be made to pay taxes.
A license should have to be purchased once a year same as hunting.
Taxes should be enforced upon you cock fighters. Permits to hold the fights and charge admission should also be required.
Maybe the fights will never stop, but they can be made costly.
Larger fines should be implemented.

You hit the nail on the head.
I like the sport also.
But i do think it would help in many ways to pay for a permit plus register your game roosters.
Just advertise registerd game are worth more and you need a number clipped on or tattoo on each bird.
Eveyone wins.
If the put that much into it you could see the love the poultry.
And they do spend big on this sport.
We need to find out how to do this.
Who do they write?
It takes more than 1.
Taxes.
They are talk off letting farmers grow pot so why not let them have game birds?
The day is comeing ?
Get the word out write gamecock or other game magazines.

Cockfighting is not bad. Gameroosters will fight no matter what, it is what they were born to do, it is natural instinct. IF your against drugs then they are drugs sold at many other places than the cockfights, there are drugs sold at bars and School ball games, so I guess we should make those illegal too. Gambling is also going on at a lot of other places than cockfights, lets see BINGO parlors, card houses, Kentucky derby, poker machines at the gas stations.
the other guy hit the nail on the Head. We need to just LEGALIZE COCKFIGHTING AND put TAXES on it. then the government would get their share and keep PETA and the HSUS out of the business. THe only people truly pushing against cockfighting is the bunch of animal rights extremists like PETA and The HUMANE SOCIETY. THese two groups are also AGAINST any animal agriculture. THEY Want to stop hunting and farming.
SO PLEASE OPPOSE PETA AND THE Humane SOCIETY.

You are on the right track we need to start writing people in big places.
Pay the tax or buy the permit or register the chickens then we have no worries.

i agree, it should be totally legal.! the only reason its not is because the government cant get their hands on some of the profits. if they could, it would be legal!
