8 deaths reported in the wake of Virginia storms

Eight people died and several injuries were reported in Virginia bringing the number of dead to nearly 200 killed by tornadoes in five states Wednesday in storms that swept across the south.

My hearts are with the people who got hit by the storm and/or lost family members. One of my family members lost their home.

This is a disaster. I can't believe so many innocent people were wiped out by mother nature. You'll be in my prayers.

I would like to give a big thank you, to all the Richlands police officers and fire/rescue crews who are at Glade Springs, working to help with this horrible situation. You all are truly heros in my book!!! Praying everyone makes it home safely!!! Thank you for all you do in our community!!

Does anyone know of any injuries or deaths in the Mineral,Va. area..I have a good friend who lives there and she isn't answering her home phone or cell phone...I'm very worried for her and her family..Thank you and God Bless you all....my prayers go to all the people affected by this horrible tragedy

Don't be too alarmed if you can't reach someone...Power is out in many places as well as cell service. Where exactly is Mineral VA? I'm not real sure, I'm in Abingdon about 10 miles from Glade Springs and the destruction there is horrible. The death toll could have been much higher, but somehow although there was a lot of damage there were not many lives lost.

Went through glade springs on my way up to DC today so much damage and destruction. Talked to a trucker and he said that he lost 6 co workers last night.

This weather is crazy and I am afraid that this is just the beginning of crazy natural disasters in the US.

There were reports of 7 people dead earlier today, there are still several people missing....the report then changed to only 4 confirmed dead. We won't know the total until everybody that is missing is accounted for or found...He may very well be telling the truth....Anyway, 1 life lost is 1 too many....I sure hope "hhaha" is just your screen name, because I see absolutely no humor in this situation.
