I am not taking up for neither Steve nor Billy, but if you are going to get on here and insult someone and expect it to look legitimate, use your spell and grammar checker. When you make a post that is grossly mispelled and contains bad grammar, it makes you look like the bad guy.

I would really like to know what they are doing wrong. So helping a business that sells alcohol going is wrong. Well then why did the other people before them help Mountain Sprits and El Publitoes. They are wrong to bring a supermarket to eton. They are wrong to bring change and growth to eton. Without growth and change we would probably not be able to keep the doors of city hall open. Billy makes $100 a week. if u break that down that is $15 a day. For that much money you have to listen to all the bull crap people throw at u. Man my hats of to those 2. People always point out that they hang out at the sportszone. Well billy does not hang out anymore thanks to all you people and steve hangs out over there to take people who have had a little to much to drink home. Now what is wrong with that. Hey Joan Dooley comes in there and eats but no one points fingers at her. What was eton when Hogan and Bostic ran it and now look at it. People get with the program.

The whole lot of them need to be replaced. We need all new faces that actually have a clue about how to run city business. Get rid of the lazy, don't know what their doing, and the self appointed dictators and you'll have no one left. This is qualifying week, anyone signed up yet?

Billy makes $100 a week. But how much money is he throwing away on things that are not necessary? It takes someone with business sense to competently run a city, any fool can throw money around like theres no tomorrow, the problem is what are you going to have when the money runs out? And as for Shaw, making money off a business that he as a councilman has the power to vote either for or against when issues arise? What's wrong with this picture? Hopefully we'll have someone run for each seat open and changes will be made. As for Joan Dooley, she goes in to eat, not to scope out a drunk she can take home and put some extra cash in her pocket.

Since you seem to know so much about City business, why is it that you do not know that this is NOT qualifying week? It's Aug 31-Sept 4.
Besides, it's "they're doing" not "their doing."

Number one, if you ever bothered to attend any City Council Meetings, you would know that Steve Shaw refrains from voting on any issues involving the Sports Zone. Number two, considering Eton is one of the very few cities that actually prospered during the recession; I think Billy Cantrell is extremely competent in running the City.

We are population 501 not 500,000 people. WE are lucky to be headed in the right directions. You all people that sit here and talk about the city council why dont you have he ball to say it to their face. Come to the city council meeting if u have the balls to show up and open your mouths because they will be shut really quick.

Then why does Eton's website and the newspaper say that qualifying is THIS week? Incompetence or maybe THEIR hoping someone will MISS the qualifying dates? Probably a little bit of both.

I repeat, what direction would that be? Saying anything to a politicians face is useless, all you get are lies, most people know that. We the public share information and opinions to make others aware of what goes on when you can't get the truth. What's wrong with that? Thats the same thing the newspapers do, some people don't like what they read, but thats just too bad. And I don't think anyone at the meeting has the ability to shut anyones mouth.

We don't pay council members to sit there on their butt and "refrain" from voting on important issues and thats why they have no business getting involved in anything that interferes with it. That just lets the rest have all the power to make decisions while the "refrainer" sits there. With the carpet mills moving out and businesses shutting down isn't it a little strange that Eton seems to be so "prosperous"? Or maybe its the blind leading the blind. The final numbers will tell the tale I guess.

My opinion,Eton is heading in the "right" direction. There are some decisions that are made that I haven't completely agreed with but you can't make everyone happy. The Mayor and Council Members are elected officials that Eton citizens have voted in.....meaning that the majority of you trusted their abilities to do whats good for Eton. There are meetings held once a month,to voice your opinion as a Eton resident and help with decision making. Some of you may call it wasteful spending in regards to the events put on in Eton. Some of the things maybe but for the most part to me events keep a community close. I think all the Officers deserve a raise, along with the Mayor and council, not a very large raise but just for the simple fact of all the petty,bullsh@% they put up with.

I see that since I posted the previous message yesterday, that someone changed Eton's calendar on their website for the qualifying dates! Hopefully you'll let the newspapers know the correct qualifying dates also. This is why the people need to keep a watchful eye on what's going on in their community.

True you can't make everyone happy. That's common knowledge. I don't know what the people working there should be or not be paid but to say you should be paid more because you put up with petty bullsh@% is ridiculous! We'd all be millionaires wouldn't we?

I agree totally with Tony. Why is it such a big deal that a honest good hearted man like Steve Shaw drive people home that have had to much to drink. I think Steve keeping people off the streets that are under the influence is awesome. Maybe if half of you came out from under your rock you could see the good things that are happening. The main issue @ hand here is the simple fact that Eton has a sports bar. Big Deal & yes it is funny how Eton is surviving in such a bad economy.
