There are 23 comments on the Estes Park Trail-Gazette story from Jun 27, 2013, titled Fireworks show still a go July 4 over Lake Estes. In it, Estes Park Trail-Gazette reports that:

As of Wednesday night, residents and visitors may still "ooh" and "aah" over the fireworks at Lake Estes July 4. The Estes Valley Fire Protection District said at their board meeting Wednesday that the plan is to go ahead with the annual fireworks display, held around the lake, unless something changes.

That during last years fireworks, even though they were done later at what was presumed to be a "safer" time of year, their were still 3 or 4 spot fires sparked around the lake on private property?
They may not have gotten out of hand, but it does bring up the issue of safety, and the fact that if even one home is lost due to high risk fireworks conditions, that is still unacceptable.
I enjoy the fireworks as much as anyone, but there is a reason so many other cities and towns are putting them on hold.
Think it through carefully, and hopefully it's not a politically pressured issue to hold them at all costs.

we sure are more concerned about the "tourist dollars" and making sure everyone is happy than the poor people that have lost their homes in Colorado already this season---Gee I wonder what the other communities based their decision on to cancel theirs?!?!?!?! Too bad our "higher ups" have no balls to make the hard decision!!!! I own a business in town that heavily relies on the tourists, but I don't want idiots and unnecessary fireworks burning our town down!! Man up Dorman!

Reminds me of the mayor in the movie "JAWS".
Except this scenario could be much worse....

The National Park has increased fire restrictions, to even include an outdoor smoking ban, the Fire Curtain for burning slash etc. has been shut down due to, as both entities have stated, "EXTREME FIRE DANGER", and that is in a very controlled environment, but the fireworks are still a go?
Who is responsible for the final decision on this, and will that person be financially, legally and morally responsible if this gets bad?
Time to seriously rethink the fireworks folks!

a bunch of whiners and complainers come to the EP Trash Forums to whine and complain about the next issue. This forum has like 4 people who post and they do nothing but complain. About EVERYTHING! Its so sad that your life has come down to complaining anonymously on an internet forum for the worst newspaper in America.

Our Chief is a Wuss. It's too bad that it's all about the Almighty Dollar and not safety. I have a good friend whose house was close to one of the spot fires last year and was scared to death. Our Governor should step up to the plate and enact the ban on all fireworks in the state. I was in Loveland today and at three fireworks stands that I passed there was not one individual at either of those stands buying fireworks. Does that tell you something? Maybe if one of our elected officials to include the Chief were to have a loss due to fire they might grow a set of balls and do what's right. Until then we can only hope and pray.
No it

To come here to complain about the complainers, welcome to the group of sad lives as you complain anonymously about the complainers as you contribute NOTHING but that.
All I did was voice concerns about the extreme fire danger and talked about the spot fires that occurred on private properties around the lake during the last years fire works, my property being one of them.
So maybe you should put up or shut up, whiner!

Another fool that plays the, it says you posted from Windsor so that means you don't live in Estes, obviously you are clueless as to how internet routing works, but, as always, you prove repeatedly what a moron you really are, over, and over and over again.

The bi-polar troll often lapses into the "you're not from Estes" idiocy when it's tired and Mommy hasn't called it up from the basement to serve it dinner.

Now we wait and see if it will reveal itself by spewing scatological and incest-themed comments in response to my using my profile. This is too easy, like waving a red-flag in front of a bull.

For those of you who are truly from out-of-town - a good heavy rain fell last night (July 1 @ 10:30pm) here around Lake Estes - fireworks central. That after a very good rain on Sunday - the two events should lower the fire danger due to fireworks sparks tremendously.

Ah, the original bi-polar troll DID crawl up out of its hole! As I said, you are nothing if not predictable - thanks for throwing in the incest comment to prove my point. That was way, way too easy!

As to there being multiple trolls on the Frail Gazelle forum - unfortunately true. Someone is emulating you and your past infatuation with out-of-town ISP's ......now, what kind of sick, twisted individual would want to be like you?

Are you able to string words together to form a cogent sentence, even a sentence fragment, Captain Underpants?

You have yet to demonstrate such.

Appealing to the intellect or powers of reasoning; convincing: a cogent argument.
Something you, yourself have yet to do either, just your bizarre ranting and clinging to your desperate need to accuse people of not living in Estes because of the location tag.
