Now that we have all this bear-proof crap at tremendous expense to the taxpayer, the bears are invading homes and businesses. Can't wait for the first chomp down death, hope it's someone in the BearsLuvUs group.

was run over in the McDonald's parking lot...Oh wait, that's not a joke - That's real life...Yesterday (Sunday) beginning at 10 o'clock in the morning and lasting for two hours, the McDonald's parking lot was roped off and cars were stopped from entering because police were investigating a young girl that was run over. Initial reports from eyewitnesses were that she was killed. But initial reports are always suspect, that is why I am anxiously awaiting initial coverage of this from one of our crack news squads...I fear that we will never read about this tragedy, or alert visitors to the fact that they are driving way too fast and way too erratically on our street, like vacation means vacation from driving properly, so that we can amuse ourselves with non-stories about bears walking into bars....But of course I could be mistaken, and maybe there was someone on a bicycle involved, in which case there will be 37 stories devoted to the bicycle angle of it....We can only hope....

or so the mantra seems to be in Estes Park. But wait, isn't there an embarrassingly trite and sophomoric singing fund-raiser going on somewhere? Stop the presses, we've so got to report that!!
Word around town is that the little child is dead, accidentally run over by a family member.
But, as of 2:20 pm the following day, nothing about this on either of this tiny town's two websites (to be expected - it's not happy news), and nothing in the Denver Post, of the Boulder Daily Camera, or the Fort Collins Coloradoan.

Maybe there is a need for a real news outlet in town. Maybe we should stop supporting these fake newspapers by stopping our subscriptions and suporting companies that advertise in them (LazeeBoy, in the case of the one POS newspaper). If Estes Park is supposed to be Disneyland, where is our monorail and nightly parade, instead of the sad little empty little trolley and parade of drunks outside Lonegrabs at closing time?
