Full story: Estes Park Trail-Gazette

Editor's note: This the second in a series taking a close look at our current economy and finding out what's wrong, what's right, what needs to be addressed, and what our future could look like if we don't take steps to improve it.

And you could always leave and make me and my kind happy. So keep in the back of your mind I'm not going anywhere.

You and "your kind" would have no services, restaurants, shops, Safeway, TAX BASE in this town if we all left!!! You don't provide anything toward the sales tax!!

- you will be dead much sooner than many of the younger folks trying to make a life here...at least we have that to look forward to ...and the estate sale where your neighbors will get to paw through the stuff you can't take with you!

You are absolutely right. And all my riches will be dispersed to my heirs and all of you who want the world given to you will be no better off.

With all of the finger pointing and non willingness to co-exist that I see above, we will never solve the problem of advancing our economy. There's good and bad points but we are all here for a common goal and before we can reach that goal we all need to put aside our differences and work together to achieve that goal. Attending town hall meetings and getting involved in civic groups are two ways of doing it. Rome wasn't built in a day and either was Estes Park. Let's all get along and help make Estes Park a true paradise to live in and visit.

During several of your threads you attempted to end the conversation with the opposing person on your terms. If you think by saying you are outta here or we all had our say that that ends the conversation because you want it to think again. You have been baited and took the bait. Your point has been made with no solutions to the problem as well as your nemesis. This is a no win situation. It now has turned into two fools trying to out do each other. Such a sad state of affairs yet not uncommon to the Estes park mentality.

So instead of name calling why don't you offer a solution? Until you do you're every bit as much of the problem as you proclaim me and my nemeses are.

All you do is bitch that everyone wants a free ride, but offer no solution for others stuck in a tough economy, you're just happy you have yours, so to hell with every one else, you're not going anywhere and blah blah blah. You prove every time you don't care about anyone but yourself, you have no empathy for your fellow man,you are a selfish, greedy uncaring soul. Oh wait, that must mean you are one of those fine upstanding, judgemental, hate mongering good Christians.

You wanna know why it cost way too much money to live in Estes? The elderly population! They suck this town dry, save up their entire life to buy a place here then move here suck the social services dry and don't spend a dime on the local economy! I live here and luckily my job allows me to make a livable wage but for most people in their 20's this place is just a place to visit from May to October. What we really need is a college and young people, a real arts community something to do from November to April. I love Estes Park but if we keep catering to the elderly community I am afraid this place is doomed!
