Full story: Estes Park Trail-Gazette

What does one do when a large white envelope, plainly addressed to someone else and obviously containing personal, confidential documents is placed in your post office box by mistake? You don't open it, read it, staple the opened end and return it to the post office with the notation "wrong box." But you just did.

What you are talking about this time Pat but the way I was brought up you leave the envelope sealed and write on the front of the envelope please forward by circling the correct address. No one has the right to open your mail but again this is Estes Park and gossip, boredom and curiosity rule. Sorry that happened to you.

Could you write a letter to the editor the next time somebody leaves your bridge party without flushing the toilet? Who cares if someone opens your mail. You are not running a top secret organization and your life, believe me, is not all that interesting. When you are the CEO of a major company and making millions of dollars and someone gets into your TV Guide subscription renewal letter, then I might care. As it is now, you and your plumpish husband should consider moving to a country where they send coconuts by mule train, because you are too much of a handful and too big a shrill harpy for our civilized world.

ala HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher.........

New Rules: Pat Newsance and anyone related to Pat Newsance should be restricted to writing one stupid letter to the editor a month, or one letter to the editor a month, as they are one and the same.

New Rules: Dave Dipton and Johanna Dumdum. See new rule above, and insert your name where Pat Newsance appears.

While I may not always agree with Mrs. Newsom, she has a valid point. If it is not yours, don't open it. Return it to the post office. That is what civilized people do. As far as "new rules", there is something called the First Amendment. You have the right to say what you want as often as Mrs Newsom does. Name calling is a wonderful past time for kids; are you a kid or an adult?

Yes, Pat Noisome does have a point, as would I if I complained all the time about little petty things like being cut off in traffic or someone not compliementing my new hairdo. Get over yourself. Instead of writing a letter to the editor, how about dusting the letter for fingerprints and if it matches someone in the database, going after them instead of assaulting the Estes Park Gazette readers with something that doesn't apply to 99.99999% of them. I don't open Pat Noisome's mail, but I guarantee you, after reading this, if her letters did happen to reach my box, I would open them and print them on fliers and mail them to everyone. Grow up. Into each life a little rain must fall.

After all, what is being reported is a federal crime. I'm not sure why there is so much hatred on this thread about someone who is concerned about people who commit federal offenses.

for sure take it to the Postmaster not the newspaper under the guise of character. A Federal Offense wasn't even mentioned in her letter to the editor.

did not report this to the Postmaster than she I as guilty as the person who opened her mail. If in fact a Federal Offense was committed it must be reported.
