Taking aim in Estes Park

When and where can you fire a firearm? Upset by the recent reported shooting of a bear by the manager of the Elkhorn Lodge, citizens peppered town officials with questions regarding discharging firearms within town limits at Thursday night's joint town-community meeting on protecting both the bears and the public.

What is all this hearsay about being intoxicated? Do the people posing the questions go out every night and drink with this guy? Do they stalk him? Do they constantly carry a breathilizer? Why don't they also ask if people should shoot guns if they are on LSD or crack cocaine? How silly is this to let unsubstantiated gossip dominate a line of questioning? I would have asked the people posing the questions if they came up with this nonsense while they were downloading child porn.....

This town is built on the back of gossip which you just perpetuated.

Everyone wants more regulations when it is an issue they are concerned about or offends them, but not when new regulations impact them in a way they do not like. Be careful what you ask for.

So far I haven't read anything about a background check on this person to see if he or she can legally posess a firearm, is the firearm legal (is it registered to the person who killed the bear), or does this person maybe have a Concealed Carry Permit?
