I was at St. Malo's this past weekend for a retreat, from Friday until Sunday evening. The power went out on Saturday night and we only had a few lights running off the emergency generators. When we left Sunday around 5 the power was still off. There was usually a fire going in the fire place of the main lodge on the 2nd story. I can't believe that I was just there, sitting in the lodge and looking out the windows at the stone chapel. If there is structural collapse, the fire must be intense. There is going to be smoke damage throughout the building, too.
All the retreaters from BA 20 are praying for the firefighters as they battle the flames, that they can safely do their job, and still save as much of the retreat center as possible.
St. Florian, patron saint of firefighters, watch over and protect the brave souls at St. Malo's. Lord, protect them and return them safely to their families.
