Why not put the Wellness center on the old Rains Ford lot,or the downtown empty lot waiting for EPIC (check their fundraising numbers lately?) and then bus them around like the tourists.
Why can't the Wellness center go someplace else? Away from the visual corridor of The Stanley Hotel . We should weigh our decision as Stewards of The Stanley legacy. And the first visual impact of our valley; a thrill to see the Stanley rising unobstructed in front of Lumpy Ridge.
And what maintenance costs if lot 4 is open space? Lets just keep the town from using it as a parking lot, like they did for the bike race. And after it's all compacted like down by the lake , they declare it ruined to wildlife and pave it over.Such as they did to The Stanley Fairgrounds with their failed Transit Hub.
There is no where else

None of the properties mentioned are large enough to accommodate this commercial development. Lot 4 is the last substantial commercial property within town limits. It is not "open space," it is a vacant commercial lot that was always slated for development.

What about the Elkhorn?...
The point is that the average voter doesn't get why the EPMC has to raise most of the monies, we have to sell lot 4, and lose a visual corridor to The Stanley Hotel. Then it will be called the Anshchutz center.Gee.
It's not that we are so much against the idea, we are just not all that for it.
So what if we got attached to the idea that lot 4 should be open space? Things change when a better idea is proposed.
And why is it always so dire with these plans? from crickets chirping to toes up in the cemetery,we've heard all sorts of pandering from the advocates of Cullen.
Convince us that it is for the good that lot 4 should be sold for a wellness center. But, all we see is an opportunity for Heritage Hotels to increase their holdings.
Call us selfish (again), but I'll hold my view till I see better.

What would be the best view from the Stanley, an ugly safeway wall or a center that can be build in a stanley hotel style ?
