This is a great brainchild idea that isn't going to turn into anything but more low rent attractions for Estes. Estes will never demand the same type of crowds that Vail, Aspen, T-ride, etc etc command. We are a summer town and that is only because of our proximity to the park. We've never had the snow for much skiing (Hidden Valley is a wonderful local spot for maybe one month) but in comparison to real skiing this will be a bunny hill. That doesn't create any hype or interest.
If Estes wanted real tourism there would be plenty of attractions like IMAX and Rec-centers (remember back to the early 2000s when this was shot down), civic centers, etc. Instead it is junk shops that close at 5pm and all the old folks who don't have the money to go to Arizona or Florida for the winter fall asleep with the TV on.
The gift shop will just turn into another t-shirt shop.
