Fire response at hospital alarming to Estes Park school board
#1 Aug 29, 2012
Todd Jirsa's way of getting back at Sue Doylan and the other two Fire District Board Members for voting against Ingel and Klink to be on the board and firefighters as the same time...Jirsa is a big Klink/Ingel fan and of course had to flex his self perceived power in the community by using the school board meeting as his platform. Let's start counting down the days until this pompous a-- terms out on the school board.

Amen, and AMEN again, saw that move coming as soon as his buddies were shot down, let the countdown begin and good riddance to bad rubbish.

Toddy boy is in office approximately another 420 some days. He annointed himself president through a slick move when Patricia, Cody and Marie were sworn in last November. A breath wasn't even drawn and his hand puppet Tony Paglia moved to make Todd Prez...still basking in the glow of being elected to the board the other three went OK since they were blindsided and had no say in the matter. Boom, boom, boom...happened that fast. Since then Todd has had his Elkhorn Inc. Project sidelined, his wanted dream of tearing down the old elementary school thwarted, Tony did not get elected to the EVPRD Board, Todd's harassment of Patricia to try and get her off the school board has been rejected (although he keeps trying), his fire district buddies were voted down when they tried to pull a "Todd" and be a board member and firefighter, Todd's "partners in crime" Linda Chapman and Jeff Lund are gone amidst a scandal in itself, etc. Thank God in heaven this community is starting to wake up. So for kicks lets start the countdown this Saturday, 9/1 at 420, 9/2 at 419...

So let's see here... An emergency call at the hospital that only 3 people responded to. Could it be that the first one on the scene, the chief perhaps, using his professional judgement, ascertained that it did not require more than 3 people? Besides that you're at the hospital. The place is wall to wall with individuals that know how to respond to an emergency. Don't you think that in this 24 hour news cycle world we live in, someone would have hopped on a story if one actually existed?
Everyone should be fed up with watching peoples children and grandchildren drafted into service as unwilling poster children for the Estes Park Cause of the Hour. If it isn't compelling children to testify on behalf of the Elkhorn Project, it's using them as a way to try and paint the fire department as understaffed at best and incompetent at worst.
It would be interesting to look back in the T-G's archives to see if Mike Dickinson, Peggy Beauchamp, John Webermeier and others who served with distinction on the school board were ever this concerned about whether or not the fire department was going to be able to handle an emergency. Or whether or not in the last 50 or 60 years we have even had a major emergency that required an all out vacating of the school grounds.
Previous posts are dead on: Mr Klink and Mr Igel did not get their way and now they are relying on the big bully to get it for them. Where was TDJ's concern about all of this in 2009 during the Park Theatre Mall fire? Shouldn't he have been asking the questions then?? Oh, that's right, there was no EVFPD board in existence and no friend of his trying to have it both ways.
Here's a deal for Todd: Work it so that your board will allow teachers working for the School District to hold office as a school board member. And then see how long your hand picked superintendent's of schools last with a majority on the board wanting to fire them or replace them with their own person. The thought of that would be so unpalatable that he would shoot it down in a heartbeat.
Why not let the fire district concern itself with fires and safety and demand that the school board tend to the business of seeing to it that the youth in this community get a proper education. Or as a wise man said a while ago, and I am paraphrasing, don't worry about the straw in your brothers eye until you look at the rafter in your own.

stated. Speaking of poster children for Todd's causes the school children had a FIRE DRILL yesterday so Todd could fan the flames for his buddies...pun intended. Klink's kids are home schooled so they are not a pawn like the rest of the students.

Estes was threatened by a wildfire in 2003, the 4 Mile and Reservoir Road fires two years ago, an incident management team was stationed at the schools during the Cow Creek fire, and only NOW Jirsa thinks its time to consider a wildfire evacuation plan for the schools?

The last I heard both of Klink's children are attending private schools in another state. Which may explain Mrs.Klink's desire to not run for a seat on the school board. I am sure she wanted to be there to take stage directions from TDJ as to what to say and how to say it. But, alas, trying to justify telling everyone else what to do in regards to their kids education in the local schools while your children go to a better school out of state, was too much for even TDJ to spin as a justification for her being on the board.
Most of us remember all too well the Big Elk Fire and others that were a threat to our neighbors. What stands out is that everyone pulled together to help in any way they could. Now we have vague threats being made as to what MIGHT happen if 2 people are not allowed to be firemen.
Rather than fuss and fume over 2 firefighters why not try to find 12 new recruits? That way you don't even worry about 2 people. Of course I am sure that even if 24 new recruits join up you will hear that some other problem has come up that requires the attention of the 2 that aren't allowed to be firemen. Every incident that takes place will be subject to a detailed post mortem with the pre-drawn conclusion that the 2 extra firemen could have made the difference. You risk going down a road of the football coach who never loses a game. He just occasionally runs out of time. You see, it is never his fault.
Maybe the most obvious question has never been asked, let alone addressed. Do these 2 men have a firemens axe to grind with Scott Dorman? Do they feel that they are more qualified to be chief? Better yet, let the volunteers speak freely in an anonymous forum and address this right now.
If you own property here your big concern is that the Fire Department will have the equipment and know how to put it out. Not whether 2 board members get to be firemen. Resign your seat on the board if your passion is to be a firefighter.
