This is not a required course and is an elective and as the report states, he's the first from Franklin County to attend!!!

It's refreshing to see the Commissioners are allowing someone to attend something that will actually benefit the SO and the county!!!

This course is designed for sheriffs who are actually law enforcement officers similar to chiefs of the many police departments in PA. In PA, sheriffs, and their deputies do NOT routinely enforce the crimes code and vehicle code, and are more an "administrative" type officer, serving court papers, etc. I think Mr. Anthony is trying to make his job something that it isn't. We should really be questioning the necessity of this training when the county is in dire financial position.

You may think I'm "clueless" & you may "disagree"; but just tell me when was the last time the Franklin County Sheriff's Office investigated a criminal offense, developed a list of potential actors, and made an arrest based upon THEIR investigation.

Some course highlights, directly from the NSI's website AND the course and all expenses are paid for the NSI;

"Providing the sheriff with a greater understanding of his role as a community leader.
Providing the sheriff opportunities to assess and evaluate leadership styles and skills in the areas of bargaining, interpersonal communications, and personnel management.
Understanding how organization ethics assist in managing staff; to familiarize the sheriff with key legal issues that impact on the office of the executive leader.
Providing the sheriff with an understanding of the media and how to effectively communicate and work with the media.
And overall, providing the sheriff with the administrative oversight necessary to effectively manage all areas of responsibility."

Hmmmmm, sounds beneficial to me and yes, I'm a former LEO, so I know what function the SD serves in PA!!

Well, my friend, don't you think it's about time that we utilize the Sheriff's Office in these matters??

I believe that studies have shown that LOCAL Law Enforcement vs outside Law Enforcement (State)has performed extremely well in investigations and have assisted local prosecutors in gathering solid evidence for convictions.

Job well done, Sheriff Anthony. Now, write a Grant to the Federal Government for the funds to implement a working Sheriff’s Patrol

This is a reply to "say what" a former LEO. I have tried for the last two days to turn someone is who is wanted. I have gotten the run around from Chambersburg PD and from the PA state troopers. I have the docket # and where the person is until they leave the state of PA AGAIN later sometime today. Can someone PLEASE help me. I need to get ahold of a sheriff. If the PA state trooper I have spoken to over the last two days would have called me back to let me know I needed to call Franklin county sheriff's office I would have done so before they closed for 4th of July weekend. Instead I had to call them back and they were very rude and lazy in getting someone off the streets who has no license due to SEVERAL DUIs and was arrested AGAIN for driving without a license. I know where this person is. Can anyone help me get ahold of a sheriff ASAP before this person leaves the state of PA AGAIN? Please help me. Thank you so much.
