Hi there,
Some people should just give there opinion there is no reason to be so hateful and rude. I have been going to Ft. Myers Beach for since i was a kid and now i am 40. The water has changed and it doesnt seem so clear. I think it is from the river behind the island and it churns up. I wouldnt say it is dirty though. I stay at the south end of the beach at Pointe Estero Beach resort which is very nice and the widest part of the beach. It is quiet and have never run into a bunch of drunk people when we have gone. I would say that the North End by the pier would be a little more lively and active but that is not where i go with my child only for dinner. The parking may be a little annoying but when you stay on the beach you dont have to find parking just walk out your room. I find it to be enjoyable and nice and that is my opinion no rudeness involved in my statement. Yes there are other beaches that the water is clearer but i think this is a safe area and a nice beach. SOrry you are going to have some drinking every where to a point.

By the way all the rudeness about the beach there why dont you educate yourselves on why the water there is that way:

Ft myers beach catches the water from the caloosahatchee river. The river contains a lot of sediment from the Okeechobee. There is also a few barrier islands near the beach. What happens is the water cathes all the leaves and tree branches ect from storms and decomposes them. They are filled with different nutrients that feed algea and other things that make the water less clear.

No where in this explanation would i think the water there is dirty. Ignorance of the uniformed! Shame on you!!!
