"First Selectman Michael Pace has talked with Sen. Christopher Dodd's office asking for help in negotiating with the mortgage company"

I'm not the only one that finds this amusing am I?

The true picture of community and friendship. Where are the atheists and ACLU now? You never see them pitching in to make things better, only worse.

You are not. And funny doesn't even capture the essence of it.

Willie, not sure there is a civil liberties issue here. No need for ACLU. And you are presumptive that all who assist fear/worship some god. May be a non believer among these good samaratins...

Although the primary reason for this bad situation Judy is in was the car crash, a key driver of the severity of the situation is corporate America. State and federal government, insurance companies, mortgage co, utilities... Too bad those corporations do not have the empathy and flexibility to make her situation better and not worse.

Good luck and best wishes Judy. And thank you to all of you who are helping her. What a nice community.

Please do not let the good work of the 30 or so anonymous volunteers from the community who are helping this lady (Yes, most are from First Church)be overshadowed by the local politicians.

It's wonderful to hear about the good being done in my hometown. I lived there for 30 years before the economy forced me to find work elsewhere.

Thank you to all the volunteers who are helping this woman. Remember - it doesn't take a blue suit and red cape to be a hero.

Dude-thank you for your comments and best wishes. Unfortuatly what was left out of the article was that I was hit by a druck driver who was 4x the legal limit drunk. She gets to go on with her life and I have to live with the consequences of her actions. I don't get a do-over like she does. The shame of all this is that there are no organizations/programs to help me. I'm so grateful for this community, they have lifted me up. Judy Perry

This is truly a wonderful community, without their help I would be in the street today. They have lifted me up. The article didn't mention that I was struck by a drunk driver who was 4x the legal limit drunk. She gets to go one with her life and I have to live with the consequences of her actions for the rest of my life. I don't get a do-over like she does. Something is wrong with our laws. Thank you for your comments and support. Judy Perry
