I feel bad for the family. But, does this really need a lawsuit. Mistakes happen. Why do we just sue all the time anymore?

So it's okay if they delivered your brain to your family. Sue the pants off of them

Seeing the location of Granny and the family, at least the relatives got something back. Most in the Espanola Valley are either meth dealers or manufacturers. They just smoked some weed to cover up the "odor" of the maternal one's final gift to the loved ones.
And I wonder whom the family consulted to find out exactly what organ it was in the bag of personal effects? Espanola typically doesn't teach such things in their schools.
Meanwhile, it promises to be an exciting year for DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley with this kind of sparkling start.

This is purely criminal in nature. The DeVargas f.H. is ready to blame another establishment. He was responsible as much by not doing an inventory on the personal effects. This is basic common-sense. How tragic and so sad...can you imagine finding your By the way, this funeral home is just another of many others here in NM that are unscrupulous and cunning.....

No better truth has ever been typed in this space before. An excellent commentary about a truly wicked and illiterate area of New Mexico. I congratulate you on your honesty!

That's a no-brainer. To prevent those kinds of "mistakes" from happening again. People only learn when they have to pay for their mistakes. That's why there's so much corruption and malfeasance at Albuquerque P.D.- it's the taxpayers that pay, not the offending officer(s).

A no brainer? Have people lost their minds?
Of course the family needs to sue. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out!

Have you ever been to Espanola and talked to the people there? Grandma's brains are not the only ones that got shipped elsewhere.

Who do you think you are? There happen to be a great many decent, hardworking, honest, and kind people in Espanola. You are an I D I O T! I happen to be from Espanola, and I have three college degrees. I have a great many family members whose education and experience would put you to shame! How dare you blame the victims! Maybe you wouldn't care if your mother's brain was delivered to you in a ziplock bag, but I sure as H E L L would respond with a major lawsuit. If you want to deal in such blanket generalities there are those that would say that your response it that of a stereotypical white redneck hick!

Espanola has many wonderful people living in the area. It is so unfortunate that DeVargas has allowed this awful situation. Personally, as a family member, I would file a law-suit and put him out of business. This was pure shady and incompetent work by him and his staff. The Community needs to let this POS know that they are very offended and displeased in how they caused untold amount of mental anguish....sloppy work cannot be excused....find another funeral home...what other distardly things has DeVargas done to the bodies entrusted to him...Make time to phone DeVargas and let him know you will not tolerate his sloppy work and carefree attitude....disgusting, pure disgusting...
