Hip hip hooray for the mayor!!! great job for investigating a shady organization like Scientology. Scientology is a dangerous cult that is it for the money and the power, not for the help.

Rick Henley has been actively been working for Scientology for many years. Google Richard (Rick) Henley + Scientology and see for yourself.
Kudos to the Mayor for exposing and removing Scientology's attempt to infiltrate your schools.

Congratulations to the Mr. Miyagishima. Scientology is quite dangerous. They hide their totalitarian ideology and scam behind seemingly unrelated activities and organizations.

Good for the mayor! If only other politicians would be as smart :)

So drugs are okay, as long as they aren't illicit? It's a God given right to drug our children if they are a bit difficult occasionally?

You, my friend, are sooo SP.

I bet you're getting plenty of "good on ya's" from your religious cohorts with that warped mentality of yours.

What part of "Mayor Ken Miyagishima apologized Saturday and said it was not his intention to promote the religion" do you not understand? Me thinks you're conflating our mayor's intent with your own preconceived ideas as to why Scientology has been rejected in this matter.

Wow, that's really disgusting. There are plenty of third-graders who take Ritalin, for really good reasons. Way to make them feel like they are breaking the law, Miyagashima.

Had some dealings with the 'church of scientology' while in Berlin. What a group of loosers!

Did you even read the article, Judas?

Did the mayor read the literature before accepting it, yourenotso? It surely doesn't seem like it. Yeah, he's yanking it out of the schools *now*, but how many kids and parents have been exposed to it already?

That's what happens when you, sadly, have a choice between a stupid mayoral candidate and an evil one.

Okay, let me clarify this for you:

1) The Church of Scientology is against ALL, let me repeat, ALL forms of psychiatric treatment--that included Ritalin.

2) The COS was behind the program that the mayor had initially sponsored, which dealt only with illicit drugs.

3) The mayor found out that the COS was behind the program, and rejected it based on the fact that it was a religious-based and not secular program.

4) By rejecting a program funded by the COS, the mayor effectively said "no" to any possible influence by the COS in terms of their philosophical stance on prescription medication.

5) For you, KnowerOfAll, no, I repeat, NO mention was made as to the mayor's world view on medication in all circumstances, so no conjecture can be made to support any theories you may have regarding the evils of psychiatric meds.

Clear? No? I'd be more than happy to further translate.

Also, the integrity of the Mayor is presidential.

He's got my vote!!!!!!!

Oh, and it doesn't seem like you read the article, after all. To your question regarding whether or not he read the literature:

"It's my fault for not checking it out," Miyagishima said. "First off, I'm not happy that I wasn't fully informed, obviously, and two, that's something there that I can't be the city can't be seen as promoting any type of religious activity."

From the above, it's obvious that the mayor didn't "read the literature," and is regretful about not having done so.

Well, that confirms his stupidity, then, doesn't it? I told you the mayoral race was a runoff between stupid and evil.

From Las Cruces, New Mexico, where religious prejudice is a commodity and government export by Dona Ana County and the City using public funds.

Let's not let this latest revelation overshadow the real intent of once again introducing Christianity into the public schools. Just look at the "shiny coin" the Mayor is in the process of giving all third graders regardless of their religion or parents permission. Obscene prosleytizing. Look at the certificate labeled "Mayor's Award On EDUCATION" with three sets of crosses, one of which is emanating light from the center cross that federal Magistrate Lourdes Martinez couldn't see, and the LCPS modified Zia symbol for the Trinity. Then a copy of the verbal agreement note 'signed' by 'Dominic Vigil' between the Mayor and LCPS to allow the Mayor into the public schools to promote his faith-driven program.

Copies of these items are all available from the City Clerk through a request authorized by the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records. I requested a front and rear picture of the marshal's badge, but only got the front picture.

With all the damages going on in our nation from drugs of all kinds we should be applauding the efforts of these guys. FAITH based initiatives are working. I have the booklet and read it. No where does it promote any church. The information is actaully very informative and useful. Most of you have been quick to shoot when you don't even know what you are shooting. What a linch mob. The drug pushers are probably laughing! If this program helps the Mayor help our children then I will pony up and help! Get me my BADGE! I'll wear it to my Catholic mass. Good Job to the Mayor and all working on this.

Typical of the mayor. He listens to one person and runs with it without checking anything out.

"our message to kids is not to use to not use illicit drugs" Clearly they have no idea that prescription drugs is the # 1 drug of abuse for young people. Kids now a days just grab over-the-counter cold medicine and parents painkillers and get high as a kite.

It looks like these people are way behind the times in what kids are using to get high off of. Just do the research. Drugs like Xanax, Valium, Ritalin, Oxycontin, and Percocet are the drugs of choice for young people. They are called "Pharm Parties"

It looks like this mayor must have some type of backdoor funding from the Pharmaceutical Industry.
