1 Why would anybody bid anything more than a dime on this stupid piece of junk - why would they Proctor Police Department be so stupid as to thinking they were going to make money off of this stupid piece of junk - why would Mr. Dennis Anderson, age 62, of Proctor, Minnesota be so stupid as think he could drive his lawnmower engine propelled recliner any better than an automobile with a blood-alcohol content in the range of .30? Stupid, stupid, stupid - dumb, dumb, dumb. Time to put this story to bed. |

I'm not surprised this would happen. Jim Janos had the same problem years ago when he tried to sell his Porsche on e-Bay. People think it's funny to bid and wish to be a part of what they consider to be the joke and they do not intend to fulfill their financial obligation.
To those of you that state the Proctor Police Department committed a theft when they confiscated this vehicle: read up on state law. Vehicle forfeitures have been ruled constitutional under certain circumstances. This is apparently such a case. |

Ha!!! I'm laughing. Maybe the police dept can use it to get donuts for morning report.

irishiwassober in mn could use that chair.
There should be a set fine for all infractions and as long as the perp pays the fine there is NO REASON to take someones car or chair for profit.
The wealthy could care less about loosing a car and many poor invest all their time and money in cars, not a progressive way to levy a fine. Corrupt Government! |
The chair has become a headache for them so the easiest way to solve it is to just give it back to the owner who built it and get on with the real police work. My guess is the owner has learned his lesson... and would more than likely sell it on his own. Case solved.
The guy who got the DWI while driving the chair did not build the chair, he bought the chair already tricked out. |
Not that it matters much but this quote from his daughter makes me think he built it. "It makes me sad, because my dad--he's put a lot of work into it," said Andrea Jorgenson. The guy does auto body repair work so he's probably pretty handy. They could give it back with stipulation that he does sell it on his own and doesn't drive it and must donate the money to a good cause. |
You're right, it doesn't matter much. But an earlier story reported that he bought the chair. Just because he fixed it up to his liking desn't mean he built it. |
