Wow it amazes me how ignorant some people are. America IS a country of IMMIGRANTS, this is why America is so diverse and beautiful. Everyone living here in this country is a descendant of an immigrant. Unless you are the descendants of the Native Americans, that once roam this place OR the MEXICANS who in the past, owned the western side of the US. So who are the real immigrants? This leads to the question what is an "American"? What defines an American? What makes an American?
If America is a country made out of diversity, who are the Americans? Is it the Caucasian-American? African-American? Mexican- American? Is an American, someone who lived and grew up in this country? A person who lived and experience the "American" culture? Does the place of birth determine whether or not you’re American? I don’t think so. What is the difference between a kid who was born and grew up here in the U.S vs. another kid whose parents migrated here to the U.S, while he was only 6 and also grew up in the U.S. Both learned and became accustomed to the "American" culture. Both speak English as their dominant language. How are they any different. I am an immigrant, I’m attending a four year university next year, but I am force to face many more obstacles than any of you legalized Americans are. Since I CANT receive any financial aid from the government, I am forced to pay all of it by myself and the 16,000 dollars my parents make a year combined. Yet I am certain, it can be done, SI SE PUEDE! This is our statement; it rose from our fierce determination, and it continues to fuel our Persistence. It keeps us going. Many students like myself, do not posses legal status here, but we are working hard to obtain our education and will continue to work hard to further it. Like many others, I will continue to fight to be classified as an American on paper, as I am in my heart. We ARE Americans by heart, striving to be Americans on paper.
This is hard truth, the only difference between you and I, is the place of birth. So I ask you what gives you the right to convict me as a criminal who should be kicked out of a country I have spent my whole life in? You accuse us of breaking the law and migrating here, even though as children we never had a say in it.
You call our parents, Criminals. Yet I don’t blame them for their decision. Have you ever put yourself in their shoes? Imagine yourself being born in a poor family, not being able to go to school because of the constant necessity to work for food, and maintain a roof over your head. These are the conditions many of them face. Now you ask yourself " do I want this for my kid?" a live full of constant struggle? And since the U.S immigration system is filled with major flaws, you are forced to wait about 15-20 years in that same condition in HOPE that you get a green light to migrate into the U.S; so what are your options? Either migrate into the U.S now and give your children a shot at a better life or wait 15-20 years to get the green light once your kid has the lived the same struggled life you have, and his chances of a better life have perished. So you can’t blame them for wanting better for their children. It’s inhumane. People argue " Illegals don’t pay taxes! they take advantage of the services" even though many of us DO indeed report and pay taxes in hope one day we can be legalize and this won’t be an obstacle stopping us from legalization. However we don’t complain about the taxes WE pay for the services you receive and we are denied.

ALL of us pay taxes when we purchase things such as gas, a soda, clothes, and many other things. Others argue " illegals steal jobs!". WOW that statement is completely false, ask yourself this, how come you see many legalized Americans out in the street asking for money yet you only see few illegals? reflect closely on this question because you’ll come to realize this is true, how many people have you seen out in the street asking for your money, only to go back and waste that money into consuming drugs and alcohol. Now how many of those were Mexicans? The answer, a few if any, and if you do see us in the streets, you see us not asking for money but only to offer our backbreaking work and diligence. Even though we come into this country with nothing but hope’ we work our way up and provide a home for our family. This is because unlike some Americans, we don’t discriminate against any job, to us a job is a job, and we will settle for any job. We better ourselves through our hard work and perseverance. Are you honestly telling me that we are we stealing your jobs? To answer your question, no we are not. Simply because we can’t. We are not pointing a gun at your face telling you not to try to work where we work. You CHOOSE not work in our kind of job, so the only ones to blame are yourselves. ANY legalized American has a much better chance of obtaining a job here in the U.S than any other illegal immigrant. The reason is because you speak English, and since you are documented, you have much wider range of jobs to work in. If you disagree simply go out to the fields and agree to work as hard as we do, for less than the minimum wage. So don’t tell me we are stealing jobs because no one is stopping you to go under the scorching heat and work in the fields. I have lived my whole life here, I speak fluent English, I'm educated, I'm a hard worker, and I will be attending college next year. So let me ask you again why are you any different than me?
