For the people who are making ugly comments about low income resident,low income can mean anything.There can be a husband and wife who work at Walmart w/three kids.They would be considered low income.Stop being so hateful.What if the tables turn on you?Sure you work,never accepted handouts.But what would happen if you got into a car accident today? That left you paralized from the neck down?Can you work then?Oops!I'am low income.God does not like ugly!

sre you kidding? christmas is 2 months away! toddlers don't remember christmas at that age! if you need a tree ask for a free fake one on craigslist in your area! if you are that poor don't make babies and buy food instead of trees!

Maybe you won't be so angry at "capitalist society" if you stop valuing things and instead start valuing people.
And to the women on this site; I, too, am a single mom and I know it is hard, but you will be okay and survive. Hang in there and keep going. I have FIVE children I feed each day and work two jobs to do it. It is tough but I also am going to school so our life is better someday. I go to garage sales each week and to thrift stores for their sales. It is hard but can be done! You will make it! You can achieve and become the woman you want to be and live the life you dream of! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't or that you need to be a beggar. You are smart and talented and hold endless possibilities in you and you can be anything you want to be if you'll just believe in yourself and begin today on the road to success. There are many colleges and support groups for those who need advice on how to start. Pick up the phone or look on the internet and start looking!

Single mom- I am blown away at the harshness here. Not everyone is Lazy or CHOOSES to not have enough money each month to make ends meet. Who the heck are you or anyone to JUDGE? If you were to say you did not EVER in your life need some type of assistance.. I will throw the BS card at you. I pray that you do not experience some type of family catastrophy, like the loss of a close loved one that would put you in the position that some of these families are in. OR that if you were in their situations, others would not be so quick to judge you as harshly as you have others.. I guess karma is a BITCH.. Stand by....

My mom is 40 and i am 20. SHE WORKED HER ASS OFF for the life i had. i love her SO much, she is an amazing woman. all my life my mom has had AT LEAST 2 jobs or more. we never lived in an apartment, we never had welfair or any of that but we DID always have a christmas tree....and we got it for FREE every year. its a stinkin TREE....its for little kids to enjoy. to all of you who disagree with giving familys a christmas tree for free on CHRISTMAS....you better re-think yourselfs because that is just self-ish! a child knows what is supposed to happen on christmas, santa comes and puts your gifts under what?....A CHRISTMAS TREE. what if there wasnt a tree for YOUR children. what would u tell them? i dont think its right for people to be jumping down eachothers throat at this time of year. HOLIDAYS ARE ABOUT GIVE-ING not receiving....A child has no choice in their parents income and if you can sit back and watch your neighbor's family go without a tree, you dont have a heart.

i also understand the resentment tward beggers because i have worked everyday since i was in the 6th grade....i beleive that if u can walk around holding a sign and ask for spare change, you can deff. go push carts at a grocerie store.
but like i said...CHILDREN do not have a choice and if you can do ANYTHING at all....help the people who cant help themselves.

I grew up in San Diego. There were three of us boys in our family and my dad worked hard at a low paying job. My mother thought it was important to be a stay at home mom, so she took in ironing and things like that to make a little extra money for our family. My folks were able to buy a small five bedroom, 3 bath home in Loma Portal, close to the elementary school and PLHS, so us kids could walk to school. We didn't have some of the nice things our neighbors could afford, like a swimming pool, but it didn't hurt us any. By the time I was in Jr. High School (Dana) we did have a live in housekeeper and a Japanese gardener that came by once a week to keep the yard looking good, and for entertainment, my dad bought a 52 foot cabin cruiser that we kept at the San Diego Yacht Club. But my parents never signed up for welfare or free Xmas trees, even though we were poor. And somehow, I never even realized we were poor. I think people give in too easily when they don't have much.
