i visited both Erwin and Town of Unicoi parades today..my family and i were very pleased to see that the Unicoi County Sheriffs office has reclaimed dignity and professionalism for the agency.I must say that in all the years that we've visited the Unicoi Counties Christmas parade celebation the Sheriffs dept. has never been as well represented as they were today! The officers blocked traffic at the right place and at the right time to make it as traffic friendly as possible. It was refreshing to see officers in uniform unlike some previous visits.I had the pleasure of encountering an officer at an intersetion whom was most polite and professional. The town police looked and did a great job too. I have concluded that the Seriffs office, that once was so highly thought of HAS in fact IMPROVED inspite of the turmoil that has surrounded it for the past two years.GOOD JOB! Looking forward to future events!

I agree, the stink is over inspite of criticism that uncle k, granny thunder thigh, and the "X" try to stir up. I see you are from telford impressed, we
Wish you would keep the Nofattie cowboy down on the ranch and out of our fine county, they have damaged it enough!

I TO AGREE THAT OL CORNBREAD HAS PULLED IT OFF. MAYBE BECAUSE OF HIS STAFF, EXPERIENCE, OR HELL JUST LUCKY. THE DEPARTMENT IS RUNNING FINE FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN. AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW THE PRINCE OF THE WORLD (KENT)HAS NOT HAD HIS FINGER IN IT. LOOKS LIKE WE CAN DO WITHOUT HIM AFTER ALL. IM SHURE GLAD WE DIDNT ELECT THAT DAMN YANKEE

The truth is,most of the employees were doing their jobs under the threat of retaliation if they dealt with certain people. And the turmoil, you can thank our fine mayor Lynch for a lot of that.He feels he owes Harris for his job and has started countless rumors on the current administration.
When Mike was sitting in for Kent while he was in the hospital he found that Kent and the Mayor had an inmate on the payroll making $400 a week,Mike had a meeting with him and the county attorney to make sure he had their backing for sending the inmate to prison where he was supposed to be to start with.
Next thing you know they were saying Mike was after Kent's job. What's even sadder, that same week Josh Simpson's mother came down and got the vending machines that belonged to her son and that is when it was found out Kent had been using a county employee to run Simpson to Johnson City to get supplies to stock the vending machines.
Back in the summer some of Mike's family was in North Carolina and ran into Lynch and Kent's grandpa Woods, they were eating at some restaurant.I am surprised charges haven't been brought against Lynch.
But he only has less than two years left,I hope the citizen's continue to clean out the corruption.

I agree that the City police does a good job! I have known regan tilson since he was a boy. The city police is geared toward traffic and city code enforcement, fact is the County Sheriff is the superseding law enforcement authority. we all as citizens have a say in the Sheriffs election, the police chief is appointed by mayor and town council. The county Sheriff is charged with law enforcement duties in Erwin, Unicoi, Limestone Cove, Flagpond, and all other areas within the county. The point i am trying to make is there is a need for all of our
police. Town of Erwin residents have just as much right to the Sheriffs departments resourses as county residents. If a serious crime is commited then we need crime investigators handling the responsibility of making the violator responsable. I personally i do not want traffic police investigating a crime where my grand children, children, or myself are victim of. I want the man who i have elected to handle it. He knows that if he dosent do a good job we will elect someone else. I have personally heard Regan Tilson say that it dosent matter what any one thinks that he is appointed. That is good for the cities fee grabbing but not good for accountability!

Most of the people who post on here have no clue of what goes on in area law enforcement and wouldn't. except the turth if they knew it. Fact is that if it wasn't for the investigators from the city police dept several cases that has been solved in resent months, last few years really, would have never been solved. The Police Dept. Does in fact enforce traffic laws and city codes, however they have 2 very good investigators and their crime solvibility rate is very good. Not trying to take anything from the Sheriffs Dept. but as a county resident I would think they have enough to do in the county to keep them very busy !

Where have you been numbnuts? The man growing pot has been indicted and all the drug busts went to federal court.
