For those of you interested in when the Director of Schools interviews are being conducted I read the following in the JC Press. This is part of a bigger article concerning the proposed tax increase:
"The board also discussed the upcoming interviews for the four finalists to be the next director of schools. The interviews are set for next Wednesday and Thursday. Each interview will be three hours long and are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day." The interviews will be held in the Mack Pierce Board Room at 804 S. Watauga Ave. The public is invited. Isn't it interesting that the interviews are being held in the middle of the work day when the majority of the public cannot attend!!!! |

Will those doing the interviewing will they be on thier oun time or will they have to miss work ?Looks like to me every one would be better served if the interviws were held in evening more would be able to attend.I have no children in the system.

Who is in charge of setting time date and location of interviews?
|
|
I'm sure it is the Board of Education since they are conducting the interviews. I think Cooter and Birchfield are the only ones with regular jobs. |

With talk of down sizing the county commission on one hand would it not be better to have a few more on the Board of Education wouldnt it be less likly for any one person to influence the Board.Just a thought

Looks like the interviews will be this week...hopefully they will choose someone with technology experience and young enough to stay for a decade or more to truly make a difference for the students of Elizabethton. What are your thoughts on the qualities the board should look for?

I am hoping for a miracle and that one of the school board members would wise up and elect a director of schools that has the interest of students at heart and NO HIDDEN AGENDA! They need to get someone that has no political ties to this community but I am afraid it is a done deal which is a shame to the other candidates who are a lot more qualified than Ed Alexander. He just really needs to be stopped.

Ed will continue to be Super. I doubt there's much that can be done to stop that. What needs to happen is for parents & teachers to keep a closer eye on what he's up to. Roper was given too much rope (no pun). Everyone trusted him to do the job honestly & weren't paying enough attention until it was almost too late. I think we learned a hard & valuable lesson through all of that & hopefully we can take a harder line in the upcoming years.

First let me say I have no children in the system and dont know too much about Ed Alexander and I hope thet the other candadates for the job were not brought here just for show .But even if Alexander gets the job on the up and up it will look like a made up deal to some in that case the tug of war will continue The children need our help and support they are the future.

The interviews were conducted yesterday. We'll know soon.
|
|
Now that the interviews are done, all I know is what we have read in the paper. Does anyone have any inside information on which way the board is leaning in their "search" for ECS Director? Did anyone go to the "middle of the workday" public interviews? When will the decision be made?

They'll be reviewing the interviews Sunday (tomorrow) at 4:00p.m. at the Board of Ed. building. Probably will be private. Don't know that for sure. |

If anyone thinks ECA will not get the job they are crazy. This was just a formality, they had to go thru. I think we a citizens of ELIZ. should think about a second recall on the school board.

You had to have them, now you got them. Deal with it!

We cant recall everytime we dont get what we wanted .If you dont have what you thought you wanted try to make a better choice the next time and try to keep personal feelings out of it I think thats what got you were you are today

People just haven't seen the true side of good ole Ed yet. Just wait till he has full control. It will be scary. He does not care about the kids. All he cares about is his own personal agenda. He is little Hitler and he will not stop until he destroys those who got in his way. He already has many good people.

I dont know Mr Alexander or any agenda he might have the only agenda anyone in that potision should have is the Children .

Todays JC Press artical-Search Committee picks Alexander

The other candidates have much more experience and are more qualified for the job. if they vote him in, then they were not looking for the best person for the job. if (for some reason, ha/ha) he doesn't get the job, then where does he go from here?
