Shore Plaza Motel? Are they going to
rebuild?

32 years of my life I spent EVERY summer
at the Shore Plaza. Wildwood is just not
the same without Shore Plaza.

Hi, We sure miss it, especially the balconies hanging over the Boardwalk. I talked to the C of C in Wildwood, and the fellow who puts out the Newspaper they put in all lobbies, both advised that it's just a parking lot, and there are no efforts being made to rebuild it. But, who knows when money talks.

I spend many a vacation there. I was trying to book a getaway and read this article online.Wow! I heard the news about the boardwalk catching fire but I had no idea it was the Shore Plaza hotel. I just have to find a new vacation spot.

Hi - My name is Connie and growing up I always spent my summer vacations at the Shore Plaza in Wildwood. Every summer for 20+ years. When I heard it burned down I was so upset. Wildwood will never be the same without it. I have a lot of great childhood memories of that place. It will never be forgotten. Forever in my heart.

I have been going to The Shore Plaza since 1977. I was very upset and sad to hear about the fire the next day. I miss the pool on the roof, sitting out on the balconies over looking the boakwalk and people watching. We have stayed in another Motel in 06' and 07' but it is not the same. I have a lot of childhood memories there with my family. Our daughter was able to enjoy two visits there before it burnt down. I even remember when Hunt's Pier was across the way and they had mini golf on the rooftop across from Juniper St. I live in PA, and was in Wildwood over this past Labor Day week, 2007 and I still miss The SHore Plaza.

While having dinner at Sam's Pizza one evening, I inquired about the rebuilding of the Motel. I was told that they may rebuild in 08, but it will probably be condos or those big places you rent in North Carolina. Boy, I hope that isn't true because we need to keep places like the Old Shore Plaza around. What ever happened to the whole DOO WOP era? Isn't that waht Wildwood promotes? This Motel was a Classic representation of this era and should be considered a historical piece in my opinion.

I can go anywhere and stay in a condo, but The Shore Plaza Motel was different. It felt as close to home as you can get and I want my daughter to be able to have the memories that I was so fortunate to experience.

Any updates on the re-building of the Shore Plaza? My family would love to come back and vacation at the Shore Plaza. The location was great and the view was breathtaking.

I only today heard about the fire today and might never have realized what had happened. My grandmother passed away this week and I went online to see pictures of my favorite vacation spot while growing up, the Shore Plaza. My grandmother took me there every summer since the time I was four. We stayed in the same room every time on the top floor, so I could be near the pool. We'd go out to the pool early every day and pick our chairs, then do breakfast at the rooftop cafe. The happiest days of my life were spent at that hotel and its loss only adds to the knowledge that my grandmother is gone now as well.

My family and I are looking to plan a vacation in Wildwoods but we are looking to stay at a place on the boardwalk in the middle of everything. We had heard Shore Plaza was nice but see now that it was on fire, anyone know the status of the Shore Plaza, if it had rebuilt by now or not? Thanks so much for any help on this.

UPDATE!

As I reported Re-building the Shore Plaza
was supposed to start in October 2007.

Bad news to all the Shore Plaza fans!

I was down in Wildwood, NJ this past weekend
April 19, 2008.

I stopped at Sam's Pizza and had a few slices
of Pizza. I spoke with some of the employees
who said they will re-build but no date had been
set and quote: "one day they are, one day they are not"

So keep your fingers crossed!

guys PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RE-BUILD THE
SHORE PLAZA!

For now I guess the King's Inn will have to
due, they are just a few blocks down from where
the Shore Plaza was and also right on the
Boardwalk!

i agree with you rob, we need shore plaza back. we spent the last 29 years there most of them in the penthouse over the 4th of july. we started when my son was six months and he is now twenty nine. watching the fireworks from the rooftop were great. thank heavens for memories. no one can ever take those away.

Stacie, If you want to be right on the boardwalk you may want to try The Montego Bay Resort in North Wildwood. I have never stayed there but it looks like a nice place.

Yes, The Montego Bay is right on the boardwalk and our family stayed there in 06' and '07 after The Shore Plaza burnt down. It is nice, but the location is not as good as The Shore Plaza. The Shore Plaza was right in the center of the fun. A great location to relax, people watch and enjoy Wildwood at it's best.

I wish we could get a definite answer on the status of the rebuilding of The Shore Plaza. I feel like we are being ignored and everyone is so wishy washy. Just make up your mind! It seems like the family is content with just having the pizza business, at least until Labor Day. We noticed the sign in Sam's Pizza about the count down to Labor Day. I guess they couldn't wait for
it to get there in 07'. THAT SURE MADE OUR FAMILY FEEL REAL WELCOME WHEN WE VISITED ON LABOR DAY!!!!!! SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. Especially since our family has been coming to Wildwood for the past 30 years and staying at The Shore Plaza and eating at Sam's Pizza.

I've decided to save my money this year and not go to Wildwood. There are other places that will appreciate my money and patronage on Labor Day or after.

Please see my comment below. I'm just frustrated because it is going on three years and we still haven't gotten a definite answer. Our family has been loyal to both The Shore Plaza and Sam's Pizza and this is what we get. I have many fond memories from the past 30 years, but I was hoping to have many more at both places.

Has our patronage really been appreciated? What's up with the Labor Day sign? Why don't they close befor Labor day then?

The labor day sign is only a conversation starter.It was in the old store too. When we rebuilt everyone asked where it was, and if we were putting it back up. We open in February, Notice, we never close Lexi till November. Rome wasn't built in a day. Give us a chance to regroup, we've been through a huge trauma. noone is being wishy washy, or ignoring our customers. We just don't know what were going to do yet. Sorry your so frustrated.

Dear Ro,
Please say that it is so for 2009. In these times we need to have our great vaction spots close to home. The Shore Plaza offered a great stay that you could get no where else in wildwood .We want our Ocean front rooms back.No other Motel offered the great location and accomadations that your family offered at the plaza. Thanks again for the key to the old room you sent me after the fire that was so touching. Can you please keep us updated at your website samspizzapalace.com on the future of the Shore Plaza maybe you can add a Plaza link where people can upload old photos from their stay at the plaza.
