What's the deal with Gino Montagna?

Judge a group by its actions not just by what it says. The board appointed Dr. Mancini.

This woman just retired in June with 30 some years employment in MTSD. Conflict of interest? You betcha. Tons of it. Could you tell me how she could "objectively" vote on pay raises when those are all her friends that she used to work with? She said she is for the new school and she spent her life funded by we the taxpayer. She doesn't care about the taxpayer. She was a very easy fit into the board to reinforce its own. I see this move VERY much as "us vs. the taxpayer". Why not put someone else on there to stimulate a counter position? No they didn't.

This really puts Gino in the right because the board looks as if it is bunkering down with this appointment before the elections of 2013. The board is playing a game of us vs. them and putting the school ahead of the community.

Oh for God's sake, Lou, you didn't get elected, no wants to hear your sour grapes complaining, so SHUT. UP. already. The media said that Mancini had 35 years in education, the last 6 in Millcreek. There's no conflict other than your poor sportsmanship. Again. She is a resident and taxpayer just like the rest of us. I dont know her personally but it makes sense to me to have someone who knows about education help run a school. DUH. Get over yourself.

You didn't even respond. She can't make good objective decisions on pay raises. She's too close to all her buddies.

Asking questions pertaining to the project is fine

Personal attacks on one's business and family is not

Just today on the nnm facebook page are more personal attacks

the biggest lie so far has been that the board has ulterior motives to move this project forward, yet, there have been zero facts supporting this claim. you can then go into the golde std claims, palermo steroid claims, attacks on palermo's business, attacks on Conrad's family, even the drawn picture showing the dramatic bulldozing of asbury park; gives those, especially seniors, that do not investigate, the false sense that the park will go because of this project

add in that nnm continues to promote that taxes will suddenly go up, that all the teachers are against the project & scared to speak up

These are just a handful of examples of the lies and attacks. I'm sure you will pick apart each one to get into some pointless debate- or even say that is what they get for the position they are in. nnm has been doing this since the beginning- trying to be the bully by trying to intimidate those with opposing views

2 of my grandchildren recently graduated from mcdowell, neither of which used 20 year old textbooks nor ever saw such things, and both quickly agreed a new school is needed after seeing what post high school education is like. the students they go to college with have had much experience with new schools and my grandkids are somewhat behind-not because of teachers, but because of tools not being offered in an older school- especially in their science labs

I'm sure the personal attacks on me are well on their way. that is how nnm works- attack an opposing opinion by getting personal because we disagree. the board has been very forthcoming from the beginning and has listened, and has tried many times to reach out, but has continuously been met with pointless static. I saw it at most of the meetings. just because the board did not agree with what nnm said, does not mean they did not listen

Perhaps if Mr. Montagna was willing from the beginning to take a step back and listen himself to soak everything in before offensivly attacking the board, he could have helped: millcreek, the students of millcreek, the people of millcreek, and the board themselves

being tactful and repectful goes much further than bullting tactics

Poor poor SB! Maybe they should just leave their position if they can not handle it! Not all about getting into games for free or making sure your kids make a team? Or your friends get what they want or family? Now is it? What did they think was going to happen? Your grandkids will do just fine.

Brilliant!

When dealing with most of the people from NNM, you have to consider the source. Look at their track record on dealing with people in general. I think they view it as a personal attack because it's what they are used to doing.

There is a lot to respond to here but Golde having std's, palermo using steriods were NEVER on No New McDowell, those things were here on topix from god knows who. And Conrad's fam...that one woman teacher/wife or whatever she was to Shawn was acting ridiculous...the poor me poor me drama routine won many attacks in public and people called her names because no one in that school has it as bad as she claims....it was plain silly.

you hit the nail on the head

it's not that the board cannot handle it, they shouldn't have to

one thing I learned with my wife of 48 years, keep the arguement within the subject of the arguement. when the disagreement strays too far away from the subject at hand, the true meaning of the discussion gets lost.

I agree that my grandkids will be fine. It is also refreshing to know that with the new school my other grandkids will have an even more stable foundation when they decide to continue their education.

So let me get this straight. You don't like NNM because of the lies they said about the SB but here you are on Topix responding on a thread about Gino Montagna? And there was never anything spoken on NNM about STDs. Actually I think one of the SB family members accused NNM of saying that on their fb and it was never said. But it must of been true if the SB said it! You obviously have access to NNM. Find it?

Lies that was never posted that golde had an STD on NNM. And the cartoon of the bulldozer??? I think you are being hypersensitive, but it does show the attitude of the board very well. If it puts the district too far in debt Asbury Woods could be shut down...and what attacks on Palermos business? Nothing was said on NNM about that. Some people on here said it was a dump. Thats about it.

please don't change the meaning of my comment- another nnm tactic. Changing the meaning what i said is insulting and simply wrong.

I never mentioned the age of a building being an issue, but simply mentioned that the advantages of a new school, with updated tools like a science lab, are countless.

these updated tools will help our younger generation and with these updated tools space is needed which mcdowell is severely lacking

once you consider that more space is needed, the renovations necessary, and thatthe intermediate school has much unused space, the logical and long-term cheaper decision is to add on to the intermediate school

also, comparing a building that has space issues, like the high school with almost 2000 bodies using it, to a building like Prep that not only was constructed when things were built to last, but has less than half the students using it.

On a side note, comparing a public education and a private education is about night and day as you can get. the majority of the students act significantly different in a private setting compared to a public setting. I was able to experience both schools first hand as I went to mcdowell for two years and then Prep for two years

tired2- please note that my comments are strictly about the mcdowell project and not the personal dealing(s) of Mr. Montagna. I am glad you cannot find the comments about Mr. Golde and can reasonably conclude you knew of them and that you knew they were deleted or you would not have asked for me to find them. they must have been deleted after I spoke with Mr. Aliota months after they were posted and stayed there. I will give credit for deleting the disgusting comments. But yet still months after being posted does not excuse the group from not only promoting them, but taking advantage of them.

I mentioned before about not having a horse in this race. I do not know a board member on a personal level. Am I hypersensitive to personal attacks on family propoganda pictures? Perhaps. I am also hypersensitive to those twisting the truth.

it should be noted that my comments are not defending the school board as a whole, or defending every decision they make but I am defending their decision on the new school. But there are two individuals currently defending nnm and the groups actions taken thus far

perhaps I am not the only hypersensitive one?

Just wait till the tax hike. I'm sure homeowners will take that personal. The hurt at the bank will ring louder at the polls than any whinny school director standing on a soap box repeating like some kids overstuffed pull string doll, "We are no paid. We are volunteer. Its for the kids."

Don't let these people color you purple Gino! You're the only one speaking out for the homeowner!
