You already pay a higher percentage of your tax dollars on health care than in countries that have single payer health care.

You already pay for their healthcare if someone goes to the ER without insurance and can't afford to pay their bill. The costs get passed on to you.

Gotta love Republicans voting against their own best interests because they want to screw over some poor people.

You already pay a higher percentage of your tax dollars toward healthcare then in countries with single payer systems. So you are okay with paying more and getting less?

Oh and by the way, 91% of welfare expenses go towards the elderly, disabled, or households with at least one person working.

So poor grandmas and disabled people should have to eat cat food because a small percent of welfare recipients abuse the system? If you lose your job and don't want to go on food stamps as some sort of ethical stand then go ahead. Don't bitch about literally taking food out of poor people's mouths because they are ruining the country while your own party puts 800,000 federal workers out on the streets.

Why don't folks on "The System" get drug tested AND do things like highway or city cleanup, volunteer for a charity etc...? If they don't do either they get nothing period! Why do they sit around doing nothing while I am bustin my tail? It's a joke and the punch line isn't funny.

They drug tested welfare recipients in Florida and less than 5% tested positive. A lower percent than the general population actually.

Not to mention, the only reason they are still able to buy non essential items (junk food),is because of the huge corporate shit heads ( coke, frito lay, etc) and the republicans pandering to huge corps.

Drug testing was used in several states and discontinued because less than 1 percent tested positive. I agree with your sentiment but just thought you might like to know.

And Florida? For four months last year, before being stopped by a court, Florida tested all adult welfare applicants (but not people already in the program) and charged them the $30 to $40 cost of the test. About 2.7% tested positive. More significantly, roughly 2,000 one-third of applicants failed to take the test.

The above Florida information was from a simple google search. Your statement omits the following: 1) Florida didn't test people already on welfare and 2) more significantly roughly 1/3 of the people (2000) refused to take the drug test. It's no wonder the courts stopped testing. Because, the truth hurts.

Simple math: 4000 tested and 2.7% tested positive that is 108. If you assume that the 2000 people who failed to test was because they knew they would test positive, that makes a potential 35% testing positive. 108 + 2000 = 2108. 2108/6000 = 35%.

The people already receiving welfare, I bet you will find similar numbers, if not higher.

If you do further research there is evidence that welfare recipients are becoming Florida's middle class. It kind of makes sense, if you convert benefits to dollars and then compare numbers with the working people.
