Why cannot people just be happy for what the show did and for the family that was choosen? Quit destroying peoples property, and calling such nasty names and just be happy someone in Erie was choosen for PA. I hope the other people who recieved new houses and help fixing up their neighborhoods, didn't behave like this. I don't live in Erie, but if I did I would be embarrassed by this behavior.Hell, I am embarrassed!

They went up to Target to buy new stuff for the house and were rude and nasty to the people there. Acted like they ruled and employees were just peons/slaves.

I guess the neighborhood kids already broke a 10 foot long section of fence around the back yard. Happened sometime after 11pm last night. Shame those people don't realize the blessing they have been given.
Maybe it would be best to just napalm the whole damn neighborhood and start over?
Wow that is quite an ignorant statement! How dare you even joke about such a thing! Shame on you for thinking yourself better than someone else! I do not think any one of us have the right to judge! you know some people have to live in that neighborhood not because they want to but simply because they can not afford any other place. This is why racism thrives because of ignorant people like you!! You are talking about human beings not roaches! I hope you realize just how STUPID you sound!

I agree, I am so happy for the woman who got the home. Good for her she really deserved it! Please do not generalize though, all of Erie was not represented. Do not judge us all over a few bad eggs!

i give that house maybe a year and it will look like a typical house in that neighbor hood, you can't tell me that there weren't other people, who needed this type of help instead of a house in THAT NEIGHBORHOOD !, i watch that show all the time the house that was placed there sure isn't like any of the houses else wheres in the country they did....oh thats right couldn't have a nice house there it wouldn't of blended in with the rest of the dumps.....if fact those people sitting on their porches haven't seen that much working being done in probably all their lives !

You're wrong, some of 'us', whom we call 'judges', do have the right and some of their work involves delinquents and vandals. No one needs to judge or be a judge to recognize the work of either.

And don't play the shame card on us. Our sense of it keeps 'us' from vandalizing fences etc. And racism thrives because there is no sense of shame in that and other east side areas. What truly is racist is the turning of a blind eye to crimes committed by ones ethnic brothers.

Producers of the smash reality hit "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" are commenting that their time in Erie was "the worst of any City the show has visited in its run." Apparently the neighbors did not ingratiate themselves to cast or crew. Constant complaints about damage to lawns, asking for freebies (ie: fix up their homes, etc.) and just plane rudeness. Producers were also shocked at the attituide of neighbors towards the volunteers who lansacaped the whole neighborhood for blocks in each direction. Comments such as "it's about time whitey did something for us" and "mow my lawn, bitch" were not appreciated.
Producers, it is said, do not wish "to return to Erie ever again." There was also come consternation that Mike Gallagher of WJET-TV somehow managed to interject himself in the whole process just to make a documentary of the building process. Said one Senior Producer "why the hell is he doing a documentary? That is what the show is all about!"
Nice! Stay Classy, Erie!
Could you provide a link to this story???
To be fair, would it not be right, to hear it
right from the Home Improvement Co.?????
Just trying to be fair here.
Take 10 people, start with a small complaint,
by the time it reaches the last one, the story
is full of untrue sayings. I think all of us have
experienced this in our life.
Not to start any arguments, just trying to be fair. PEACE

One more thing, can we, as Human Beings not be
happy for someone else??? We should be. As a white Female, German Citizen, I would hate that
people still think of all Germans as Nazis and
Jew Killers. Not true.
We live on this small Globe as ONE, reach out your hand to your neighbor, if there is a need,
perhaps some day you will have a need, and the
neighbor will do something good for you.
Let us not focus on Color, many people would like
to live in bigger and better neighborhoods, but it
is NOT in their life book. Do I make sense????
Just let us be more kind to each other, not all
Black People are bad, and NOT all White People are
good. Let us use our human judgement.
PEACE
Slick

If the comments are really true about how the people treated the members of this show, then I am truly embarrassed for this entire city...

The producers did have some positive comments. They were very impressed with Maleno Builders. With everything that happened (truck flipping, flooding rains, etc.) the producers were absolutely amazed that Maleno delivered right on schedule.

So there...something positive for you!

Erie officials should be ashamed of this city...I am ashmed of having to drive in certain areas because of its filth. The officials need to go after home owners and thell them to either fix up your house or tear it down. I have never seen a place were it has sooooo many condemed buildings. You home owners have a responsibility to clean up these houses. (note this implies only to those slum land lords). Its just not the house but the garbage on the east side. Need to have kids we are on probation do a clean up then go after the pigs who make it a mess. Erie is 1 dirty city.

All they had to do was log into Topix to see what kind of people are in this area. They would have backed out and gone to another town.

Thank you, Real Truth, did not think so, vicious
gossip perhaps.
People is there not more important things in life
and Erie to discuss???? If you live in a nice neighborhood, be greatful, IF you live where slum lords try to make money off poor people, I feel
sad for you. Wishing you the best, but am still
happy for this Lady.
Thanks for the reply.

Is it the truth, or just a fabrication? Time will tell. If the Erie build airs, then we know it was all made up, but if Erie is never shown in the new fall season when we'll now that EMHE really did think that Erie sucked.

I just want to add my 2 cents for anyone who is still reading this. I was one of the volunteers for the site & also VERY good friends of the builders. The truth of the matter is, yes MOST of the people on that block sat on thier porches, giving "instructions" & not participating.(Very disheartening for all involved). Second, John, himself was talking about the neighbors & others stealing equiptment b/c of jealousy & just 2 do it, that many that were involved in the process were upset. I met the producers, director, & sme of the cast personally. They were all taken with the Malenos. I can hardly believe we are the first city to be such a disgrace. Esp if you watch some of the prior episodes. Also, people need to stop disrespecting ERIE. Yeah that part has been trouble for a long time, but even the hope of the crew was to change it. Instead of criticizing, do something about it.

Do something about it?How do you eliminate the black trash, they will just move on to another neighborhood and ruin that, just as they are now, look at the eastside it's getting trashed little by little, just keeps spreading like a disease, they don't care as long as they have theier caddys and drugs!
