Why can't people let this go? Golde is GONE!!! The project was scrapped. The money was returned. What good is going to come of doing a taxpayer funded investigation at this point? I say move on. IT'S OVER. Stay out of the news. Enough negativity. How do you think the students feel at this point? I forgot no one cares about them. The Board and the Candidates only care about themselves and I say it's time to get behind the curtains and stay behind the curtains.
I'm not letting anything go and thankfully neither is the Auditor. This won't be over until we have an objective 3rd party with the power to prosecute looks over things. You sounds just like a family member or a board member or a current employee. Get a Grip from Jupiter, you people gave the highest office of auditors reason to pause. We taxpayers didn't the board did. No more excuses. We want to put this behind us with the help of the attorney general. If not this will continue ad nauseum.

Take your hatred of Donna and those shedding light on the miserable status quo of a Wilga bully boy crony school system elsewhere.

And Get a grip - Get some new friends. Some that actually live in millcreek and pay for all this! Then maybe Donna's concern won't look so 'weird' if they are local. I don't know anyone that thinks anything good of Millcreek school board. It is the laughing stock of the area.

Talk to anyone who works in that district and they will tell you that Golde ran his own empire and Hall was as much in the dark as the board. All should have known better but they learned the hard way. I think Hall is legit.
Maybe Hall is legit, but the board is NOT. They let him run his own Empire. Now look at the wreckage left in that mans wake. All board members aside from Mancini who just came on later after Golde in this should RESIGN! Koblyka, Kramer, Conrad, Palermo, Wheaton, Scutella, Wilga and Diplacido - Should fess up then leave in disgrace.

We wouldn't need Pat Cuneo's probe if the board did its job. That was the for mentioned people's job!

My prediction is that no more will come from the auditor general than did from Lou's grandstanding "complaint the day before the election. I think it should all be looked at so that no one can keep saying there are some kind of lies or cover ups. And the friends I referred to actually DO live in Millcreek. They were saying they wondered if being normal was the rarity and I responded that the nut cases in the media spotlight were not the majority. Thank. God. I am not supporting the board. They screwed up (with the exception of Mancini). What I am supporting is the district, and our kids. This garbage needs to be behind us.

Your commentary makes no sense. Who is this Donna and the others that caused my "hatred". I have no idea.
Nothing good is going to come of any of this except one thing. More waste! Let's have the taxpayers fund a sox figure investigation over "no" missing money and no mis-appropriated funds. Guess who is going to fund that investigation? The taxpayer whom you claim to be looking out for.
Seems very much that whoever you are that your main focus is to remain relevant. I say move on. Save the whales or do battle with the zebra mussels. This is over with and your obvious desire to spend tax payer money on a "witch" hunt is a joke.
Put your focus on the STUDENTS. I find it odd that you never mention them.
Your great idea to promote a tax payer funded investigation with hopes of putting Golde behind bars so that the taxpayers can also fund a potential stay in a "country club" prison.
Are you really looking out for the taxpayers of Millcreek or are you just trying to stay in the news? I am quite sure by your response that it is the latter.
Let the AG use his limited resources to thwart real crime. Use your group of uneducated fools to promote education and help our students. All of us would benefit.

Golde will not go to jail. Being an ego maniac, or being stupid, are not against the law. For which Judicator
should be grateful least the authorities come after him/her as well.

If you don't believe in accountability you are no example to the students that you claim to care for. Just another bad example. No one trusts the board. Who's fault is that? Theirs. Now no one will believe anything that comes from that witless group. They lost credibility, and now you want to say I am a hater for demanding efficiency in my local school district?

MORE recent missing financial reports on the news?

Apart from the 5mill, they did not make accurate budgets and because of that the gen. fund plummeted by 52%!!!

What happened to the insurance claim restitution on $4,300???

Interest lost on 3.1 million????

$2,100,000 FAILED to BE BILLED from charters, spec ed, and OTTERS PLAYERS!(That was the money to keep Vernondale and Ridgefeild open, huh?)

Heaven help us because you sound like someone in the MTSD's employ and your mentality is why we have to have people come in from out of town to clean our own house. You are an embarrassment to our community because even on here you try to sweep all this failures under the rug.

Keep in mind that all this started with the audit from the Anderson fiasco. And no one could defend Bill Cobert's hanky panky. His wife dumped him shortly thereafter and he married their former "best friend". A lot of the screeching about supposed lost revenue listed in the prior post has been resolved. Pay attention.

How do regain lost interest on funds because Lincoln was too lazy to set it up? That money is long gone because someone was not doing her job. Stop lying.
Cobert's hanky panky cost us only $7,000 for that investigation. All these errors cost us $100's of thousands. Why do you people defend Lincoln and scape goat this all on Golde? Sure he is to blame for this but the board's hands off policy cost us dearly.

This is all familiar Mr. Board member. Trying to blame everyone that came before you, but you still voted to waste 100mil on a school with no reports in hand. Then had the arrogance to say people did not do their homework. You are the one that needs to pay attention. Now even Cuneo is forced to call out the blind arrogance of millcreek school board.

"lack of oversight" from the auditor. Yes. That is you. The current board he's talking about. Not former supers Cobert, Maynard or Salmon. Not Millhouse, Rastatter, Albert, etc.

Ron Wilga's same sex favoritism, Cobert's trashy affairs. Smoke and mirrors.

A performance audit of the Millcreek Township School District has been released by the State Auditor Generals Office. It details questionable financial actions by the district.

The 32 page audit covers the performance of the now financially strapped school district from December 2004 to February 2013. The Audit includes mention of the questionable transfer of 5 million dollars in July of 2012.

The audit found significant non-compliance with state laws and administration procedures, pointing to mismanagement by the administration and poor oversight by the school board.

The audit also outlines inaccurate budgets and missing or incomplete monthly financial reports.

I am most definitely not a board member and wouldn't be one if you paid me. All this crap didn't happen overnight and your lack of understanding that it was a long time in the making shows your own bias. The supers are all to blame. Past boards are to blame. The current board is responsible for trusting the untrustworthy. And if these audits are so great, where is the portion that says how much was spent wrong by Anderson and Cobert? Where is the auditor general about all that mess??

That is mess is why the auditor general visits millcreek at intervals. If by untrustworthy you mean Golde, I'd agree. But this current board did nothing but try to bury a disaster by looking the other way and voting on a 100mil new McDowell. It didn't work. Not only did NNM get nasty on the board, but all these other people started to speak up, in neighborhoods, in letters to the editor, they even contacted the auditor general and pressured a recommendation to the attorney general. They got it. Don't blame an objective audit by the state, you're not going to find many to buy into that blame game.

The auditor tore up the board by saying that problems like these usually occur in economically depressed areas, not suburbia Millcreek! The bullying and corrupt politics is to blame for this decay of Millcreek School District. How many friends and family did Brian Kramer hire? Ron Wilga is stupid to think he can bully his two teamer playing boyfriends teachers kids, Koblyka just wants camera time and pompous self promotion, Palermo is a train wreck. And Hall..I wouldn't want to be him no matter what...dealing with this dysfunctional board will be next to impossible.

The bullys aren't just at Westlake, they are on the board.

All I want to know is what was Golde's motivation for wanting this 100 million dollar project when he knew the funds were not there. There certainly needs to be an investigation to determine this and why were the board members so adamantly following along. Follow the money trail, like who was handling the bond for this project. No financials for 7 months at this critical time leads one to believe someone hiding something and not just Golde. This whole district is a joke. Filled with incompetence and the good ole boy network. Perfect example would be hiring Golde assistant Hall. How did he not know the 5 million taken and about the cover up. Someone should investigate this to see if he was picked to keep the bones buried safely or is he legit?
Good ole boy network?

Follow the money trail?

Sure let's do that.

Since 2002 or before PNC Bank had one of their high ranking employees on the Millcreek School board. He resigned Jan 1 2012. Since 2002 every bond has been awarded to PNC Bank. The School Board solicitor also belongs to the firm that has been the Bond Counsel on every bond since 2002. The 2010 bond for 27 million carried fees and misc. expenses of $464,692.33. That's a nice sum. Crazy financial things happened for many years in the District. In the 2002 bond there was 2 million borrowed to fund the year 2000 sinking fund (savings account).

How the bankers do it is to just require the interest paid for the first few years then write in large balloon payments. It looks like the district can easily afford the bond. After a few years they just roll it over to another bond. Very little principle is ever paid. It's all interest. The money borrowed in these bonds will be paid back by the future home owners that just started first grade this year.

School Board members have come and gone during the past 10+ years. One constant was PNC Bank had their representative there the whole time watching out for who? With the valuable oversight and input of a PNC Bank professional just think of how much better off the Millcreek taxpayers are today. When the discussion of bonds came up what member of the board did the rest of the members turn to for advice?

That's what happened. Plain and simple - greed.

BIG BAD SCHOOL BOARD

The vexing maneuvers of the Millcreek School Board and former Superintendent Michael Golde are exasperating.

Their recent problem with what they should do with the $20 million bond issued in 2010 is mind-boggling, as they cited $20 million-plus was needed for McDowell High School improvements. Is this then not a wash? With their need to prioritize usage of this money, they are considering spending thousands of taxpayer dollars for consultants to tell them how to prioritize. Why should taxpayers pay for a School Board and superintendent who can't prioritize school issues?

To relegate such prime decisions reeks of a problem with an inability to be prudent stewards of taxpayer money. The superintendent and his senior staff should be responsible and accountable to prepare an assessment of fiscal priority needs, and the board should be responsible and accountable for a comprehensive review, advice and approval/disapproval of his assessment. Approval should be a joint function of commitment.

For such procedural implementation, we need to waste $40,000 to $60,000 for a consultant? It is time to remind these people they are agents and representatives of the people and taxpayers, and not their masters. Spendthrift ways in this dismal economy must be halted.

Kudos to the Erie Times-News staff members who keep Millcreek residents informed of the problems within the school district. Their diligence is appreciated. Kudos also to Lou Aliota, a School Board candidate and taxpayer warrior whose principled leadership, fiscal acumen and commitment for truth and transparency warrants my vote in November.
