Dog licenses readily available

I have to disagree with Jeanne Pamula's view on dog licenses . The city is more interested in having all dogs licensed so that when they are found running loose they can be returned to their owner.

How about we all just get ID tags made at Petsmart, then? That will also allow our dogs to be returned, and the government doesn't have to worry about paying people to deal with all the paperwork, etc. generated by requiring dog licenses.

I believe the actual reason for licensing pets is to prove to the local municipality that your pet has had the proper shots. The fee in most areas is very minimal. Perhaps places like PetSmart could partner w/local governments to help w/ the licensing issues. - No, that also makes sense... forget it.
