Parents of a Penn State student who was drunk and fell to his death get $3 million. Seriously? Why should the parents of an irresponsible punk get anything? Is no one responsible for their own
stupid actions? This kid made the decision to get drunk. Why are others to blame? The parents should be to blame if anyone.

In Loco Parentis. PSU has had a historic and shocking indifference to student drinking of which most parents are unaware.

That being said, the kid made the decision to get drunk. Fortunately he only killed himself. If he was smart enough to be admitted to PSU, he should have been aware of the consequences of drinking too much. Maybe I am assuming too much since my parents raised me to use common sense. Which seems to be in short supply in today's world. Everything bad that happens to someone is someone else's fault.

With respect, Joe, you are assuming too much. PSU, and most other colleges, have allowed drinking and binge drinking to become cultural imperatives for their students. We're already too aware of PSU's 'above the law' indifference to anything but their bloated perks. They need to feel the heel of our collective jackboots. On their sucks.

the kid was a theater-films major. His earnings potential with a PSU degree in producing child porno would have easily exceeded 3 million.

Add another 3 Mil for the potential snuff films that he could've produced.
