The Italian American Womens Association has named Joyce as "woman of the year", citing her as a "role model for women".

Couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Agreed. This City really needs her back...or someone with her strong leadership, vision and not afraid her surround herself with smart people - not "yes men"

I know it was an economic "bubble", but I am glad I go to see the good side of Erie in the 90s.
Erie was good to me. I can't see turning my back on her in her dark hours.

Filippi? Come on, Man...what are you smoking? That arrogant SOB barely escaped a jail sentence. He is/was a self dealing, unintelligent prick who ignored all of his appointees advice. Had he simply had some humility and listened to the seasoned professionals around him he actually might have been successful. He started running for Congress before he was sworn in as Mayor.

Joe Sinnott isn't arrogant? Done nothing but raise taxes and fees. Shootings every day. Great job.

Who would you prefer, Filippi or Sinnot? Lesser of the two ...

You have to spend money to make money. Fillippi was trying to grow the tax base. Sinnot has killed it. The city is dead because of Joe. Rick couldn't even salvage this now.

You libtards are nothing short of amazing in your hypocrisy. Sinnot supposedly saves Erie from bankruptcy on the backs of the few remaining productive citizens. Yet you dumb a-holes praise Savacchio who helped cause Erie's financial problems. Dumb democrats spinning away. Time to flush.

Harold...My post was intended to bash Filippi, not compare him to Sinnott. While your thoughts are well taken, try to stay on topic.

I wonder if Joyce Is about ready to release the results of her "STUDY TO STUDY THE 30+ STUDIES" commissioned during her administration reviewing the previously conducted studies by groups about the pollution in Erie Bay which also were never released or acted on.
I suppose when one considers the absolute failure of Democratic administrations during the last 50 year it is possible one or more of the principles can be considered to be a person of note despite their dismal record of failure ......but here in Erie it is pandemic when the bar for consideration is set lower then the curb on lower State Street

Don't live in Waterford stupid. No longer in Erie county. Keep existing in your Section 8 ghetto dwelling. It is all a piece of crap like you will ever achieve.

Joyce really wasn't the success as mayor that so many of her supporters assume.

She was only able to balance budgets for many years by raiding various Erie reserve funds and by using gimmicky "one-time fixes."

She did nothing to change to status quo of Erie or prepare Erie in any meaningful way for the 21st Century.

Only!!!!!!! If you consider the fact we have not had a mayor in over 50 years who really cared about this town . Joyce was just one of the best of a very bad group of Mayors the city has suffered through...... a simple review of results for this time frame which document the decline of Erie Industry, commerce, population & education clearly validates this statement.
