Yeah. Like a sign that says there is actually a state park there!

I think we need to preserve more parks and open space. Think about it, from this point on, all such open space that exists has only two possible outcomes: it will be preserved, or it will be developed and built up. And we know A LOT of the latter is bound to occur. Therefore, we have to cling to every bit of parkland and open space that's left for dear life! It's really quite logical if you think about it.

It gets a lot of visitors in the late fall. The parking area just past the Elk creek access area entrance is usually packed with trucks for the entire deer season.

D.C.N.R. has and is planning more programs out at the park, it's a nice place to walk. They have to do a better job of letting the public know about the park, sign will help. Budget might put a damper on trails, etc. My family and I done the hawk watch and winter snow walk to the lake bluff from Rt.5, all were done well by park employees.
Look forward to more activities.

I have walked the dogs there and it is beautiful. It is hard to find if you didn't know that area you would miss it. A sign would be a great asset but it is still off the beaten path and will never be another PI. which is the beauty of the place =)

VERY peaceful!!

How true.
The more you publicize it the more pollution (people and their trash)will show up,Don't believe me just look at Raccoon Park , they nicer they made it look the more trash on the ground you see.
It don't need a pave parking lot. Waste of money. let it grow naturally.

RU talking about Raccon Creek Park in Beaver county off rt 30?

My family likes the swimming area there and the trails are mild (not paved, but not too technical) so the kids don't have a tough time. I didn't think trash was too much of a problem, but it can get busy.

There is a Raccoon park off RT 5 in North Springfield. I think it is actually old RT 5 it is on but if you take RT 90 to RT 215 and go North and turn left at Peggy Grays' candy shop and you'll run right into the park a few miles down the road. Nice park quiet for the most part.

Excellent article by Ms Harris. I'm glad the Sierra Club joined with the Sportsmen's Club and others to block the original plan to build overnight lodging inside the park.

chchange, your right. that inn was small, and to be latest eco-systems. the tree huggers will soon ask for the hunting to be done on special dates and not to scare the birdies and bunnies. can't believe even the fish guys got suckered into it either LOL:)) we'll all be standing in an unemployment line soon the way thing are in west county.

Sorry Mark, you would have been on private property, Reliant Energy's, if you were camping there before the park. You would have gone to Huston Texas to get permission.

Daily Horoscope for December 25

Virgo

So much love and effort. You want the day to be a big success, and it's going to be that way. You'll be very popular if you can bring some spontaneity to the day, such as springing an exciting surprise on everyone or swapping a tired old tradition for something much more interesting. You might also have an unexpected visitor at some point.
