It's a shame that one meathead yachter wannabe killed a woman and got the yacht club sued. It's never happened before in the yacht clubs 124 year history.

You are a total wanker, Aaron Hertel. Your boy Ryan Carlyle is too. I hope you are both really proud of yourselves.

It will probably spell the end of the fuel dock at the EYC. The insurance will pay out and then jack the premiums up on the club unless they agree to stop selling fuel.

You suck, Hertel. So much I can't even begin to put it in words. Do the EYC a favor and resign. I'd be embarrassed to show my face down there if I was you.

Jerk off.

Why are so many of you against the Hertel guy? Is he a bad person?

All he did is buy what he thought was a well cared for boat. obviousy it wasnt what he thought.

He killed a woman and got the EYC sued because he's a dumb ass that never took a safe boating course or obtained a USCG captains license. He just winged it and look what happened.

This is what happens when dumb jocks get new money and take up dangerous hobbies without any formal training. His negligence will transform the EYC fuel dock and will make it a pain in the ass for every other responsible member.

He is a textbook example of what not to do.

Last I knew, EYC had an interview process you go through when you apply to join. It's not like they let anyone be a member simply upon request. Someone must have signed off on his application.

Just sayin

The sale was an ''As Is '' sale. Period.
The purchaser was not even going to get a survey done even after he was told about it and how they work.
When he found out that he could not get insurance without one he opted for an insurance survey only. That is NOT a full survey and only checks the basics.
Even with a full survey chances are the failed gasket would not have been caught. Boat manufactures design these things so you cannot even examine the systems without having to take half the boat apart which a marine surveyor does NOT do. They only inspect what they can see and make recommendations accordingly.
The previous owner winterizing the boat himself had NOTHING to do with what happened.
The boat was used prior to going to the fuel dock as the new owner had it out a couple of times since the purchase.
It is facinating to see some of you post things that you know absolutely nothing about.

A safe boating class would not have prevented this accident.

His own family was injured & could have been killed as well.

It is sad those with no clue on what happened can attempt to destroy all those involved. They have been through enough pain.

The Yachtclub member interview process is a joke. All they want is your money. They could care less if you're a competent boater or not. It seems to be strictly driven by dollars.

As an extremely successful Insurance Agency Owner and long-time member of the EYC, let me assure you were are VERY selective. This is a Yacht Club for godsakes! Typically we require that your check doesn't bounce and that you live in Frontier or Frontier Lite (other side of Kahkwa Blvd). It doesn't hurt if you went to Prep or your father was EYC Commodore.

I know a bit more than you think Sal. Someone needs to be responsible for the death in this accident, and I go back to the original owner who wouldnt pay a nickle to see Jesus walk water.

The blood of that young woman is on his hands..... hope he can sleep well knowing what his neligence has done

You sir are a f_cking idiot. It was an old used boat. Purchased AS-IS. Your relatives are on Judge Judy all the time. They whine when the $500 car they bought broke down.

Yea, they've been through enough pain. That's why I see them on the news using the accident to promote their business. Buy enough airtime and you can get play on the news for your business, too. The death just added drama and victim status to the "story".
Delta Bravos!
I understand this is Topix, and trolling is abundant, but how you can twist a simple business commercial into promoting a tragedy is simply amazing.

Are you next gonna attempt to convince us an American Airlines commercial is adding drama to 9/11?

You are truly quite disgusting. Have a great day!

Still waiting for you to resign from the EYC, Aaron. Your incompetence is going to cost the club millions and probably shut the fuel dock down. I hope you're proud of yourself. Maybe you should find a less dangerous hobby like flying kites.
