Great job, Stephanie. In a time where it seems more popular to bash teachers as money grubbing "union thugs", which is a ridiculous statement in and of itself, you are a wonderful case of why many teachers actually became teachers...to help our children. Keep up the great work!

It's touching to see a teacher use that money for books instead of padding her union pension as is usually the case.

$2,300 worth of books, chump change.

It was just last spring that the Erie School District wrestled with a $26 million budget deficit.

Board members raised taxes and cut over 200 teaching positions. Still, two lame duck board members, Gary Horton and Jeanine McCreary, plan to attend a conference in New Orleans at a total cost of $4400.

The conference begins November 15. The board members' terms expire on December 7.

The only reason--obviously--that the kids are reading these books is because their parents must have gotten tuition vouchers. Kids whose parents don't get vouchers can't learn to read.

Hey, way to try to turn such a positive thing into some political soundbyte, jerk. Btw you forgot to end your statement with "union pigs". Guess teachers aren't just about themselves, only in your imaginary tax free zone. If you would prop up the people like Stephanie rather than try to tear down everyone, maybe we could some pretty positive things.

I'm with you. Screw him. To that end I'm literally going to send her a "congratulations" type card in the mail since the idiot was so kind as to post an address. You with me? Let me know once you've sent it if so. I'll do likewise.

I'm in. I don't always agree with some of your posts, but I'm sure you don't always agree with mine. It's just nice to know there are decent people still out there! Thanks for supporting her and others who go out of their way to do good!

Everybody's address is public when posted in the phone book, but I don't see you attaching yours here. It's one thing to have access to another's address by looking it up. It is a completely different animal when you post it in an online message board while tossing around accusatory and derogatory comments at someone. You are trash, period.

I agree with teaching children the impotence of a good work ethic.

You are a despicable piece of trash. Debate that.
