Anybody know HOW this fire supposedly started?
Wonder how much the dealer owes to the bank? That's always a good reason for a fire to start all by itself at 5 a.m.

I was wondering where the smoke came from....
Yep, real big mess. Fire trucks had Rte 20 blocked off for a while, and then after the building was at least under control, a car caught fire and brought the firefighters back. If you drive by, you'll see what I mean. Whole back of the building is more or less gone; burned, roof caved in, whole nine yards. |

Pretty unbelievable. I live right around the corner from Harborcreek Resales. Went by there for work about 11:10 am Saturday. And now at 12:40 am.Sunday this is how I found out about fire despite me going by it around 10 pm Saturday.
It always seemed they had lot of cars out front and in front of pizza place down from Eastway Plaza. I believe it was another place that did resales went out of business I guess a year ago off Rt. 20 before you got to underpass. I always wondered how anyone could make a go of it here in tiny Harborcreek with cars buzzing by both places on Rt. 20. |
Fred, the one that burned was the one just down the street from the Fiddle Inn and across the street from the old fire station, not the one up near Eastway Plaza. |

Becky. I know the location. I ate at the old fire station restaurant across from Harborcree Resales Friday around 4 pm.
My mention near Eastway Plaza was the fact maybe five vehicles were for sale there a few weeks ago. I was looking for a vehicle for a friend and the pizza person came out and said the Harborcreek Resales had put the vehicles there to get additional sales. As I said I live near Fiddle Inn (Bartlett Rd) and Harborcreek Resales. Will check it out when I go past it at 10:30 am Sunday. |

The Times' "official version" of the fire. I gotcha now, Fred. I didn't understand what you meant about their vehicles being up near Eastway. I DON'T think Harborcreek Resales was doing very well -- which is why the fire seemed, to me, kind of suspicious ... but maybe it was just "an electrical panel" that caused it, as the owner claims. |

Wasn't there a restaurant out that way that burnt down in the late 80s or early 90s? I think it was closer to or in north east though.
They sold a lot of cars. I know one of the partners. They have a lot in North East too. |
I know how to start a fire,,, but starting a flood is achallenge
Are you talking about Delhurst -- the country store and restaurant that was just west of North East on Rte. 20? That's the only restaurant out that way that burned down, that I know of. |

...I have nothing better to do with my time than sit in my trailer and post negative comments about the other users of this website. |

When the owner speculates on the cause that's usually an indicator of guilt. Almost like blaming the fire on an adding machine. See if their pants are ablaze.

There WAS a hall just west of there that catered weddings, reunions, etc. Burned down in Early 80's. |
Harbor House. We had our wedding receiption there in '87 and it burned down the following year, I think. Funny, we spent our first anniversary at the Bel Aire and there was a fire there after that, too. Good excuse to never spend an anniversary at home, lol! |

That is the most intelligent thing you have said on this and any other blog. |

I thought that was the Harbor Inn. Those in Harborcreek grew up going there and for some it was strange in that first Central School (same side as Resales) but west of Fiddle Inn was leveled by arson.
Years later just after a Harborcreek High Reunion the Harbor burned up. That was just east of the Fiddle Inn. Then up west route 20 (same side as rest) Delhurst was destroyed by fire after another reunion. Bizarre stuff in this area. On other side of Rt. 20 last year I think it was a man who was in trouble years ago for serious crime died when his vehicle swerved off the road and clobbered into a house. I believe it was almost stuck in there. Then months ago back west at Fiddle Inn a motorist driving his car had stroke, hit sign near underpass and got through Fiddle Inn parking lot and wound up flush against outside of Fiddle Inn. He died. Despite all that I think Harborcreek is a nice place. |
