A 13-year-old has been confirmed dead after two pedestrians were struck by a car.

The accident happened just after 7 this morning in the 8500 of Perry Highway right in front of Popp's Mobile Home Park.

State troopers say a car heading north on Perry Highway, and apparently ignored the school buses stop sign.

The car did not stop and hit a line of students crossing the roadway to get on the south bound Fort LeBoeuf bus.

State police have identified the 13-year-old girl killed while attempting to board a school bus this morning in Summit Township.

Ashley Clark, a seventh-grade student at Fort LeBoeuf Middle School, was struck and killed as she crossed Perry Highway to board a school bus stopped near Popp's Mobile Home Park. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ashley was one of two students hit at about 7 a.m.

The other student, 17-year-old Taz Giannelli, suffered moderate injuries, state police said. He was transported to UPMC Hamot for treatment.

State police spokesman Sgt. Mark Zaleski said Tyler J. Festa, 19, of Lake City, was driving the black Chevrolet Cavalier that struck the teens. Festa was not injured, Zaleski said.

the car was traveling northbound at the time of the incident, Zaleski said. The bus was southbound.

Zaleski said Festa was interviewed following the accident but is not being held in police custody and has not been charged with anything related to the accident.

Fort LeBoeuf School District Superintendent Debra Spaulding said both students attended district schools. She said the district will offer grief counseling to students and services to students and faculty members.

I think this type of tragedy is worse than drunk driving. Obviously Festa is ignorant and does not deserve the right to have a driver's license. I think his jail sentence should be longer than if he was drunk driving. He sounds like the typical punk in his age bracket. They are totally self absorbed. They see life as a video game. No skills and no respect for others.

Terrible in everyway.. The driver, yes young and possibly a punk (or not) may or may not been having a seizure, looking at his cell phone, adjusting his radio or whatever. He had been in violation of the speed limit earlier this year, something I too am guilty of, however this idea of having a seizure seems like an excuse to me. Having a seizure he would not have stopped at all or possibly driven into the school bus, but he stayed in his lane until after he hit Ashley then he stopped. From the newspaper other kids were attempting to cross but then saw the car NOT slowing, so this causes me to believe that possibly the 2 struck did not look before entering the roadway. It is an accident in every way. I do not have all the facts, I will save that for the police to determine if charges will be filed. I am simply sitting behind a computer reading Goerie and ETN both of which are not 100% accurate. It is sad and I pray for everyone involved.

siezures are spontaneous, and usually are first detected at such an age(teenage). they can also come and go in an instant without the person even knowing what happened! I'm a dr., I know the facts.

Not saying that the boy didn't have a seizure, but if he did don't you think that would have been reported by now? I would think it would have.

First off, what convinces you he's a "dirtbag?"

Second, in Pennsylvania, if you are seizure-free for 6 months, you can drive. If he did have a seizure (something that would take more than the newspaper's evening deadline to confirm), then he will probably not be able to drive for 6 months.

his name ends in a vowel, he is from lake city, and he killed an innocent girl; he qualifies for dirtbag status. any other moronic questions?
you probably think jerry sandusky will be fine in six months too.

No seizure. He passed two school buses and three cars earlier down the road while going 60mph plus while on phone. Was late for work and was calling in. Confirmed by many witnesses. Including drivers of the other vehicles.
can you say involuntary vehicular man-slaughter!!!

wonder the same thing. if it can pick up the elementary kids up in the trailer park, why make middle and high school kids walk across a road in which people drive at least 55 mph.

no one complains or says anything until something tragic happens.

And where do you get this information from?. But your info has not been reported anywhere. My kids came home from school and said he was texting while driving. Just like i told both of them (who happen to have classes with both kids) don't believe everything you hear from people who have no idea.

If your info was confirmed by many witnesses then this would be the top story on all news channels and print media. I'm not sticking up for this kid one bit i hope he gets whats coming to him. People spreading rumors and leaking false information will only hurt those involved even more.

Why isn't Festa behind bars? Seizure my a$$. He was speeding and being an idiot. The kid killed a young girl because of stupidity and recklessness. What the hell is PSP waiting for? The punk needs to be sitting behind bars scared sh!tless because he's going to be there a long time.

These are the same people who make police and emergency crews jobs harder by slowing down to gawk at an accident to satisfy their ghoulish curiosity. That is exactly what you have going on here. I am glad to read your post which has a clear perspective.

I would bet if he has a ticket for going 85 on back roads in summit and another citation for reckless driving this kid was driving like a jack ass when the accident happened. Should be in jail for the rest of his life.
