This morning there were a couple of more letters to the editor and an op Ed piece about MTSD closing schools because of budget problems, some of which were the board's fault and others that schools have no control over. People, you all had an opportunity to have your voices heard at any or all of multiple hearings and meetings. The board voted. It's time to move on.
It is unacceptable for your sobbing children to be thrust into board meetings, before camera and news folk, and along 26th street. Shame on you. You are selfish to think that your 240 Ridgefield kids are more important than the other 7,250 children in the district. We taxpayers are not willing to go deeper in the hole to keep the small schools running when there are other buildings under capacity. I applaud the board for making the tough but correct decision to finally close schools that should have been closed a decade ago. This was an unfortunate but necessary decision, and now it's done. Support your kids. I moved several times as a child, and each time my parents told me I would be fine. And I was. You can make that happen, too, or not. The choice is yours.

Yes it is sad to close a school but it should not be but bricks and motor that form children's education. Time to accept change and help children make the transition.

Way to be classy, Vernondale, and make the best of the decision for the good of all. The gaggle of girls at Ridgefield need to learn from their example.

Sick it up, Millcreek, and raise taxes to where they would have been if the Act 1 index was met every year.

My sister in law is a teacher in the district and she said not one single teacher is being furloughed. All are being assigned to openings from attrition or retirement. Stick that in your nay saying pipe and smoke it.

So check out the Personnel report yourself. It's public record and includes furloughs and layoffs. There were a bucket load of positions cut, like the TV station and crew, special Ed and curriculum coaches, technology integrators, and so forth, but all the classroom teachers from the two closed schools were placed in teaching positions instead of being laid off. That is good news.

A neighbor told me yesterday about the Ridgefield Facebook page c
Made by parents objecting to the closings. After just checking it out for myself I am appalled and furious at the behavior of those so called adults. It's fine if they have a different opinion but there is no excuse for calling board and administration members idiots, liars and thieves. Shame, shame on you! What are your kids supposed to think about your tantrums and misbehavior? Nice parenting! And to the couple of you who insist you are now gonna move out of the district? Start packing and get going, the sooner the better! We do not need people like you in our district.

Awwww! You mad....again? You are a school board member or a relative. Nobody would feel that cold hearted towards parents that are upset about a school closing except for the ones that made the decision to close them. What dumb asses you all are.

You people have NO ONE to blame but yourselves. Crying about taxes, buying cheap chinese junk for your kids to play with, putting imports in your driveway "cuz America can't build cars". All part of the dumbing down of America. Too short sighted to see you're selling out your kid's future. Some people should just not breed.

Nah, am neither and glad for it. But your name calling sure suggests who YOU are. The Ridgefield parents and Vernondale parents have every right to be upset. It's the way the Ridgefield parents act that is shameful. Don't see that from the Vernondale people, do you.
