Actually ALL law enforcement personal be they municipal, county, state or even conservation officers are REQUIRED to have their CERTIFIED CREDENTIALS with them at all times while on duty. It is not the uniform or badge which really identifies them to be police officers it is their CREDENTIALS.
Yes, it is your right to request to see these & they must show them if requested. Human nature being what it is....they will be taken aback if you do ask.
I know this to be a fact because of my experience in law enforcement & taking the mandatory instruction conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police regarding essential requirements to be able to legally arrest someone while serving in the capacity of a police officer
Without proper CREDENTIALS you probably cannot even direct traffic & be covered by state provided liability insurance ....for sure you may not make an arrest or perform in the capacity of a police officer without CREDENTIALS.
Know your rights, but be very careful of when & how you voice them.

You are obviously correct, but define credentials. If a uniform and a badge are not official credentials then what is?

Sounds like the Gestapo to me. The people don't want to show their papers so obviously they must be Jews.

Official credentials are identification documents issued by the State or agency one works for, notarized with the pertinent information to uniquely identify who you are & certify you to be police officer.
In my day it was just a notarized piece of paper , today it could be a more durable piece of identification much like a drivers license, weapons carry permit with a photo ID, badge identification number & the organization you work for.
No question many people think a uniform or badge is sufficient but Uniforms & badges can be purchased or faked....Certified Credentials not so easy.

You make absolutely no sense dude. So allegedly you think I puff my chest all out because I'm "baaad"? Let me start over and clarify the point. It is your constitutional right to not give the police your identification if you haven't done anything wrong. When I was in the army, I traveled basically the whole world and observed how other country's governmental systems worked. For instance, in Italy, the police can haul you away for no particular reason. Our founding father's wanted America to be that special place to where the citizens have rights to protect them from the government's wrath. It seems to me that when people do exercise their rights, they are just trying to "puff out their chest." As for the drunk driving comment, driving is a privilege.
Well guess what?
I was in the army too.
To get on post, show ID. Anytime the MP's asked, show ID. You dared not go anywhere without ID and you better damn well show it when asked for it.

Now, I was in Germany.
Guess what?
When the Polizei asked for your ID, you better damn well produce it. Turn and run away and they could, in the early 80's anyways, shoot you with no questions asked. And they always carried sub-machineguns.
You had to have it to get back on Post. To buy cigarettes and alcohol.

Like the others have said, what is the big deal?
Unless you are wanted.

As for crossing the border, really? Unless you are a citizen, being in our country is a privilege, not a right the last time I checked.
But how about we just take the fences and crossing points and close them. Let anyone and everyone in. Even if they are murderers and rapists and drug cartel and murderers and rapists. No one will ever know they are here until they kill or rape someone because hey, this is the USA where ID is not required nor required to be shown.

You come on like "the government" has some big "wrath" out on you. That just makes you look like someone that isn't all there to me. While I am no fan of big government, I don't believe everyone is out to get me. I believe in my rights but standing on the street arguing with the police is not the time or place to argue my rights. I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to worry about and he needs to be getting on chasing after real bad people.

But what ever.

Enjoy your evening in jail.

BTW little side point here. But I hope you all understand that police are under no obligation to tell you the truth even regarding matters of law.
The burden to know every law which you are under falls on you. Ignorance of the law is no excuse yet even if you are right by a law, others are so vague police can often find wiggle room to arrest, detain you or generally bust your balls if they wish. Even for no reason.
Any officers out there want to say this is incorrect?
Yep! They can lie in attempts to get someone to confess or give information but..........When under oath on the witness stand they most assuredly are obligated to tell the truth.

I applaud you for knowing the truth, so few really do. The Democratic Party & Republican Party both sprang from a common root but since the split back around 1800 the Democratic Party has been the party of slavery , segregation & alliance with the KKK until the 1950`s when they jumped on the welfare /entitlement band wagon to gain black support while still maintaining control over them.
The Republican Party by name did not surface though they did merge with the whigs until the 1850`s. Their first nominee for President was John C. Fremont who lost , their second was Abraham Lincoln who won which prompted the Democratic Slave States to secede from the Union.
The KKK was founded by disgruntled Confederate Army veterans in Pulaski Tennesee in 1865 & led by former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest .They allied themselves to the Democratic Party & remained firmly embedded in Democratic Party politics both Offices & National committee until the 1950`s when the Democratic Party turned away from them.
It was no accident Martin Luther King was a registered Republican , he knew the truth about where the Democratic Party really stood. regarding Black Americans It is a shame the NAACP tries to deny this & supports the party who put them into bondage , kept them there & continues to this day maintaining economic control over them in return for their votes.
When one considers the destruction of the black family structure, the racism which divides this country, black crime & abysmal conditions which dominate most of our dead & dying cities.....It is the Democratic Party who is responsible ...keeping the blacks economically dependent on the Democratic Party & using Racism as a tool are key elements in Democratic political strategy. The Destruction of the Black Family & rise of Black crime were its offspring .

Do what you want. If I am asked for ID, I will willingly give it to them. I have nothing to hide. And then I will be on my way while you are detained and put in cuffs.
You can't be serious. You really think you have to be doing something wrong to get stopped by the police? You're a fool to give up your rights so easily.
