Malone reports he cares what the comminity thinks and is telling his staff whats going on with the merger. Do you think he will let the community know hot much money he and Kern will be getting out of this??

When don't you people stop talking about the merger? It's going to happen! You can't do anything to stop it!

The board of directors won't, and cannot, make any money off of a merger, affiliation, or any other relationship. Malone could, theoretically, if he's removed as CEO and given some severance payment. That's about it.

I work for UPMC...I keep getting new jobs, and they keep taking over. I have experienced 3 'transitions' so far.
1) First you will notice a change in attitude. No more smiles, no more going that extra mile, you no longer help patients, they are now called customers.
2) UPMC will tell administration, doctors, staff, anybody "nothing will change except the look of your paycheck". It takes them about 3 years to completely take over...
3) First they attack hospital-based physicians: ER, Xray, Pathologists, etc. You either join their plan or youre out. I have seen them fire ALL the physicians in a certain ER and other departments, replacing them with UPMC's residents (cheap labor) with only 1 attending present on site. No physician can have privileges anywhere except a UPMC facility. Geriatric doctors, forget non-UPMC nursing homes!
4) Then, they transform every department in to the way Presby does things, whether it is more productive or not...it's Presby's way. Computer systems always going down, obsolete systems and/or can't handle the load of more staff.
5) Bosses are always out at 'meetings'. You go to a coworker to find out what to do when something happens.
6) No more face-to-face discussions, questions, problem solving.
7) Then, you gradually lose ... you get extended illness bank you can't use, and lose if you leave. Yet, you have to get short term disability you can't use either, unless you've used up all your extended illness bank. Though they tell you its against policy to work through lunch, you have a quota to meet that is outrageous, then when you get your evaluation, they project your progress as to increasing that quota (quantity not quality of care). If you dont make that increased quota, you dont get a merit raise.
8) UPMC has a strong history of purchasing their 'competition' then closing them down: Aliquippa, Braddock, Southside, St Francis. Is Hamot next? or Greenville/Shenango?
WAKE UP PEOPLE! You will be shipped to Pgh because "we have better equipment and facilities there" ....of course, you're family can stay at their housing at a reasonable rate, and eat in their cafeterias....
And why does UPMC need hospitals in Dubai, Palermo, Dublin, etc???
IF YOU NEED HELP,
1) EVERYONE complains of free treatment in ERs. Do you think that will improve with Obamacare? You do not treat a toothache in the ER...you refer them to an oral surgeon. Triage! True emergencies first, minor ailments have to wait..frivolous visits referred back to their PCP.
2) WHAT'S WRONG WITH CLEVELAND CLINIC? BETTER FACILITIES, BETTER CARE, MORE WELL-KNOWN SPECIALISTS. MORE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION.
3) PEOPLE, YOU NEED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY...STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES,THIS IS YOUR HEALTH AND WELLNESS, ONLY YOU YOURSELVES WILL BE HURT IN THE END.
PS: REMEMBER THE ELECTIONS...MAKE YOUR NEEDS KNOWN...MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT.

IN ANSWER TO WHY FROM CORRY,
UPMC remodels to the hilt all their hospitals, even if they plan to close them....They've done it everywhere. 1 position I had, they remodeled my office twice; another position they remodeled the entire suite 3 times in 5 years. That is a write-off for them.
I CAN TELL YOU TRUE, I was present when UPMC told my supervisor "you can have all the equipment you want, just ask". when he said, but I need people to work that equipment, they said: No, sorry, we can't do that because the purchse of equipment is a 1 time payment, staff is a RECURRING LIABILITY.
ALSO, SOMEONE MENTIONED ABOUT HAMOT'S CEO: they will be there only long enough for UPMC to learn their ropes....then they will be 'relocated' they like to call it, in essence replaced. I could mention names (many of them) but I'd better not do it here. As for the CEOs, UPMC tells them anything they want to hear, and like I said in prior post, then within the 3 years, forget it.

Anyone I have talked to says the same thing. UPMC is a terrible place to work and have poor patient care compared to Hamot. UPMC HAmot will fail because anyone that has a brain will switch to Saint Vincent. Thanks Malone!!!!

MALONE doesn't know. He only knows what UPMC has tells him. And he believes them. He's only worried about his own job. He WILL BE replaced by Presby Administration. If he was smart, he'd check what happened to all those other CEOs. Can't wait to say "I told you so".

St Vincent will now be UPMC's competition there. Like St Francis and Mercy, they held out as long as they could, but they too eventually were sucked in.
That's why you need CLEVELAND CLINIC now.

OK, so he retires. Do you think he cares what happens?
I wonder which of the Presby VPs will be assigned Hamot.
Here's another one, besides closing entire community hospitals, UPMC is closing certain existing hospital departments, for example, they closed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Dept in Passavant -- now women have to go to Pittsburgh while in labor to deliver babies.

good luck to upmc hamot, and malone knows everything, and he is getting a nice fat check when this al happens. triage at upmc erie...and then sent down to pittsburgh for treatment!! soon when hamot isn't bringing in its share they will close that place down and once again we will have a empty building on our bayfront. remember all the other big bizznesss that came to erie proclaiming to make things better only to relocate the bizz. and throw all the employees in the streets for cheaper labor!!! can we say REPEAT!!!!

UPMC will clean out administration first...which is a long time in coming. Made up positions and "because we're friends" titles are going bye-bye!
There is some astronomical number of "titles" in administration there...all making 6 figures! And Erie Hamot worked off office politics and popularity contests. UPMC will take care of all those people who walk around and sit at conference tables all day.
I doubt nursing staff has to worry...but managers do! They will now be held to standards. And you won't hold that position unless you MEET those standards, not because you "know" someone. Nurses and PCA's, on the other hand, are the ones that grind the wheels. They're not going anywhere.

There is no Hamot, thanks to Obama, Dahlkemper and every un-American POS who voted them into office.
