Mercyhurst police are about as effective as Garvey with a woman. I'm sure students feel safe there with these mall cops without weapons.

"Zirkle said the campus police force currently does not carry guns, but the university's trustees have been discussing changing that for about a year."

Duhhhhh! A year? And now they are advertising it? So East high school has more protection than Mercyhurst U?

This article should have been printed with the comics.

So they estimate the guy killed himself at 3am and the top of the main drive. Wasn't discovered until after 7am and then NOT by security. My question is where in the heck was security all night? They have tons of cameras on campus but they didn't see him coming in with a rifle??? Doesn't the security have to do patrols at night???? I worked security at a college many years ago and we had to make rounds every 45-60 minutes. Another guy did the same about 30 minutes after me so there was always someone passing through every 30-40 minutes. Doesn't Mercyhurst require their officers to do anything except sit in the office?

The funniest part is carrying guns. Mercyhurst trains ALL of the area police officers in North East. Classroom and range qualifications. Why are they the only school that doesn't arm their guys? Is it because they have no faith in their own teaching abilities? If they are such a great teaching institution, you'd think they'd be the first to hire their graduates and let them use the firearm training they received in class.

Laura Zirkle is a joke. This is the same lady who used to go on the taxpayer hotline show and act like the problems caused by the Mercyhurst student houses were being seriously addressed by the college. That was joke too, just like this is.
