I remember the Pappy show quite well. As a child I did live commercials for my father's shoe store, Tot's 'n Teen's, which was located on Peach Street. Also, by father was the clown on the show.

Not familiar with the store on 22nd... I was refering to Kennerknecht's on Wattsburg Rd. at Tate Rd., and the Sinclair station was north of it next door.
Was there an A&P on 28th & Parade?

Yes to the A&P at 28th&Parade NE corner. Where the abandoned Dunkin'Donuts is on the SE corner was a Youngs Meat Market. I had the wrong Kennerknecht's. It was Steve and Sophie Stasenko who had a meat market at 22nd&German.

Skip Letcher was Pappy. He also did the T.V. Bingo show in the mornings one summer in the early 60's . I think you could pick up your free bingo card from Mobil dealers.

The wild thing is I was just telling somebody about the Pappy Show yesterday and they acted like I was crazy. I was on once (studio audience) and got a big Hershey bar.
I remember Sontheimers Bakery on Cherry Street and their holiday displays and the chocolate cupcakes with white creme center. Across the street was the Glenwood Beer and when my parents went for beer I would be offered (and always accepted) a small bottle of Nesbitts Orange Pop.
And yes, in Erie (as well as a small portion of the country and in Canada) it is pop not soda.
thanks for the memories

I can't remember a burger place other then Burger King on Nagle & Buffalo, but do you remember when Arthur Treachers was in the Eastway Plaza? I always thought Dahlkemper's was so cool, the way you filled out the little clipboard and sent it to the back and waited for your stuff!
remember the Century store at 12th and Pittsburgh, close to the Drive=In theaterm was like that

The Star drive-in, one of my favorite memories, I believe it is pharmor's now. Hill's department store on West 38. D&R 38 and Washington, Pano's across the street. A&P and the green stamps. I remember riding my bike in the millcreek mall when they were building it. All weddings seemed to be at the fire department on Peach south of Robison.
We used to go up the street from Academy High School to Jack's for lunch and pinball. Skate-Erie on the east side was a favorite weekend hangout. Hanging out on State street at the public dock, playing frisbee or catch from one side of the street to the other.
Pick up football games on the Strong estate grounds. All night Putt-Putt on Peninsula drive. The Village dinner theater. Scenery Hill was a great place to eat a packed lunch in the summer before the sub-division was there.

'Trask's' was really the Trask, Prescott, and Richardson Co. shortened, of course, to just Trask's and was located at the NE corner of 9th&State.

Putt-Putt used to be at the West Erie plaza before they moved to Peninsula dr. That plaza used to really be jumpin'. Now it looks like a ghost town.
