my BL in bldg 5 told me that all displaced 22 code welders and assemblers should be offerred there perm jobs back by years end thus opening up the trickle down effect for temps to perm positions with a few 50 or so temp positions going into next year that there gooing to be enough work for everyone with a combination of foriegn kits, upgrade kits, booming oil and gas,as well as a booming OHV division, and a few domestic orders.so things should start to get to normal with alot of shifting around and more recalls.

Why shouldn't we vote Republican. Who else will ensure that Amtrak is unfunded and High Speed Rail never sees a dime. Public transportation is socialist and should be dismantled so we can rely on more foreign oil. Look what has happened under our new representation, GE is seeing rehiring, and developing new technologies because of liberal spending. Even Erie Shipyard has seen the effects of this horrible Democratic leadership by actually hiring and building again. I am voting Republican in Erie because we need a Butler car dealer who will put the Erie rail industry first. It's time to get back to the good days when everything was perfect. Besides even if we lose our jobs Republicans will make sure there is plenty of Unemployment benefits waiting because they have always supported it in the past.

I heard the company is suppose to meet with the union to discuss making most or all of the people called back permanent. Is this true? Can anyone tell me if we are all going to get called back? I have a service date of August 25, 2008. I am a 16 code stock keeper. I am hearing people with less time then me got called back and I am very happy for everyone I just hope I get that call too. Is GE going to call everyone back or are they done recalling?

Wow, I have OVER a year seniority on him. 1 yr and 2 months to be exact. Do they just pick names out of a hat? I know a guy called back that the highest code he ever held was a 16 code and they called him back on a 19 code.

Sorry to say... Seems we just get screwed all the way around! I never got a lay-off but seems like so much shady crap has gone on The new management team since dineen , seems very anti union and have goals to undermine all the past agreements. The company doesn't want to cooperate. They want to dictate and give commands. Our union leadership isn't having much luck in getting anything done! The common answer is that they won't argue against calling anyone back. Sounds good. But they need to do it in the proper way. I think our leadership forgets that the company would not call anyone back , if they didn't need them. On another note: ge wants any management that was layed off. To come back as contractors. I was told by one manager of how they are getting screwed too. I guess it's the companies new way of doing business
