USAirways has cut the last flight of the night from Philadelphia to Erie, leaving travelers with no options for flying in past 8 pm. In order to connect from any airport and Phili, you will now need to leave there by 2:00 PM. What happened to Erie's $85 million runway expansion. This was supposed to bring more flights into Erie, not cut them. It is time for the Airport Authority to run the airport like a business that supports the community.

Too late. But the community can't say it wasn't told what to expect. They just didn't care.

I was on another delayed flight from Philly to erie a few weeks ago, after talking to the gate agent about the new runway, she said you may think there will be new flights added to Erie, but there won't be. Great job guys!!!! That and the fact Rendell when given the choice to use Philly or Pitt as a Hub for PA, he told US Airways to use Philly!!!!! Overcrowded, lack of runways, too close to east coast traffic constant delays or cancellations, and terminal F is a third world country. BRING BACK PITTSBURGH! That's why I drive and hour and a half and fly out of Buffalo, even though I am only 5 minutes from the Erie Airport.

That sucks for me. Time to go back to United or Delta. I've found Delta's service to be better and more reliable in the past year that US Air. When the snow starts, the headaches will start with cancelled and delayed flights in our area.

It's Erie. As time goes on fewer people care. Do what Erie is best at doing......adapt to lower quality and rationalize it !

So how would leaving the runway unextended have helped keep that flight? USAirways has cut a number of flights; demoted Pittsburgh from a hub, and is merging with American. A lot of changes in the air travel system, and keeping our facility at its best level is essential to maintaining or increasing our service from any airline serving us. And how does the late flight into Erie from Phiily help anyone get connecting flights out? All USAirways flights from Erie go to Philly! So who would be changing planes in Erie at 9 pm to fly back to Philly to go somewhere else??

Not sure why you think the Millcreek Supervisors have anything to do with it? They just gave up a bit of land for the golf course.

The Airport Board is all nominated by City/County Council.

If a plane ever makes it to the east end of the new runway what effect will the 2 flocks of geese have on safety?

Please cite some specific examples of how the project has either maintained or increased our service from any airline serving us.

You can start with one specific example.

The airport had to expand the runway or close, at least to commercial planes. Millcreek knew this and put in the glowing golf course to put the screws to the city via the authority. The nimby mentality is what is keeping this area in the dark.

you're all not very smart about how airlines operate. The schedule is set by the airline not the airport authority. hey can have a 10,000ft runway and if the airline dont want to fly there then its the airlines decision.

and its Piedmont airlines that flies from philly to erie, not usairways. you get what you pay for, cheap ticket = crappy, unsafe service.

New Airport upgrade recommendation.........
Construct a line of motels & setup a shuttle bus service to Waldemeer & the Casino. Its a no brainer, tourists & vacationers by the 100,000`s will fly here to visit & party ....just like they come to watch a parade or biker trash ride around.

If we build it, they will come? Really?

Not when there aren't people... that was a no brainer from the start.

Where's Kelly Frederick when you need him. This new guy is just a homely looking kid that was in the right place at the right time when Frededrick left. Rodger's has been trying to grow that stupid beard since he was hired. Hey Chris...shave it off - you look ridiculous.

Your sarcasm is right on. Erie is disapearing by the second, there is nothing to draw the numbers to make a profit.
